Rejection and Regret

Ch. 2 Problems

When I woke up this morning, my wolf was practically bouncing off the walls. When I asked him what was wrong, he just told me that he had a feeling that something awesome was gonna happen today.

I quickly got dressed in a white shirt with a leather jacket and black jeans.

Once downstairs, I found my mom, the Luna of our pack (Luna Mia), making pancakes.

"Good morning dear." She smiled

"Morning Mother." I say as I ate my pancakes.

After a few moments she sat down next to me eating her own pancakes.

"Better hurry up dear, or you will be late."

Hearing that, I got up from my seat and walked to my brand new Ferrari. I drove to pick up my friends. First I picked up Alec and Chase then went to Jason's house.

Once he got in I started my car again with a loud roar. On the way to school we passed Jason's twin sister walking down the street towards the school.

Jason had told me that their father beated her because he thought she was the reason for their mother's death. When really their mother gave birth she had been sick which caused her death after they were born.

It was one of the reasons Jason and I had become friends in the first place. Our moms were best friends growing up and it was hard on her when their mother, Lucy, died.

To I honestly felt bad for Lily. It was not her fault and yet she was still beaten. I think deep down Jason feels bad too but he just won't admit it.

Once we got to school we were surrounded by girls. I never much cared for them. I wanted to wait for my mate, but the other boy had taken a liking to them if you know what I mean.

After first period I caught a whiff of the most amazing scent, roses and peppermint. I decided not to look for the owner much to my wolf's, Charles, dismay. However the scent kept getting stronger until someone turned the corner sniffing the air, then looking eyes with me. Her eyes were a beautiful color that you could immediately know that she was supernatural. Her eyes were a grey silver and her hair was the most amazing color of blonde. Not like usual. Her's faded into a light brown. Her name was Lily Elizabeth Summers.

No. No. No. This can't be happening. I can't have a mate. Not now. Not with the rogue problem. Damn it.

Once she saw me looking, I pulled her into a nearby closet, locking the door. With great regret, I said to her:

"I can't believe the moon goddess gave me you as my mate." I fake spat

I could see the heartbreak on her face and it took me all my willpower not to grab her and claim her here, but I forced myself to say the most painful words ever.

"Urgh let's just get this over with. I Xavier Stephan Smith, future alpha of the Moonstone Pack, reject you, Lily Elizabeth Summers as my mate and Luna." I felt my heart break when I said that but this was the only way to keep her safe.

But she did something I didn't expect so immediate:

"Fine. I, Lily Elizabeth Summers, accept your rejection." With that she pushed past me and ran down the hall.

After 30 minutes, regret filled me and I made up my mind that I needed to explain to her why I did it, so I ran to her house.

Once I reached her house it's clear that she had been here but for some reason she was not anymore. That's when I heard her voice to everyone in the pack through the link:

Goodbye Moonstone Pack. She said

No. No. She can't have left. I thought but it was confirmed when I felt the pack link from her break.

I quickly began to run around the house looking for her scent.

A few minutes later I found it leading towards the forest next to rouge land. I hurriedly strip so that I am in my boxers then shift into my black wolf.

I sprint into the forest hoping that I would find her.

It's been months since Lily went missing and even her twin brother Jason, who has never really cared for her, is worried.

Her father, however, seems to not care at all. This angers me greatly. How could he not care about his own child.

I kept remembering the day that she left. I was never able to find her. I just hoped that she was alright.

- Flashback -

I raced through the forest trying to pick up Lily's gorgeous scent. I had lost it about an hour ago. I was following it then it suddenly came to a stop.

I had found human prints about 30 minutes ago. They could have belonged to a witch, rouge, vampire, normal human (Umano [that's what a human who has no supernatural blood whatsoever is called in this book]) or hunter. I growled at the last part. If a hunter or anyone for that matter touched what is mine, then I will give them a slow and painful death.

I continued to search all night until my soon-to-be-beta, Alec, mindlinked me telling me that my mother was worried and that I had to come home. He said that she refused to eat let alone come out of her room which she had locked herself in.

- Flashback Ended -

There had been a few rouges lingering around the border recently but they are not causing trouble so we leave them alone.

Through all of this I can't get my mind off Lily. I just hoped that she was okay.
