Escape the Tyrant's Grasp

Chapter 1

Waking up from a deep sleep, with a scream, is the eldest daughter of the duke's household, Selene Torsney. She wakes up and starts to gasps as she is confused on where she is. The maids start filling the room and questioning what's wrong with her. She curiously asks where she is and what happened.

One of the maids reply with, "This is the duke's household and you have just woken up from your sleep m'lady."

Selene in confusion starts wondering about the duke and why the maid called her m'lady. Selene looks down and doesn't recognize her body. Selene requests that one of the maids bring a mirror. After a minute or so, the maid brought a enormous mirror into her room and shows it. Selene looks at the person in the mirror and questions reality. Selene asks the maid who she is.

The same maid replied with, "You are the eldest daughter of Duke Kenji Torsney."

Selene continues to be confused and starts to wonder why that name seems familiar. She takes a second and suddenly realizes that it's the name of the father of Selene Torsney from the novel she read when she was living in her other life.

Back to the past, right before all this happened.

Selene lived an average life as a normal office worker. Her life had no purpose so she started reading a famous novel that many of her co-workers suggested reading. The story was called, "The Downfall." It was a novel about an evil tyrant, Endymion, who had powers that could be compared to no one. Using the powers he had, he took the emperor's throne by defeating enemies and killing the king. Then he met the duke's daughter who he fell in love with, but she didn't want to be with him for she had another that she already loved. After being rejected by Selene, he wanted revenge so he took it out on the family causing their entire family's deaths. When Selene read the novel she felt sorry for the female protagonist because it wasn't her fault that she didn't want to be forced into a one-sided relationship.

As she was making her way to work, she was indulged into her novel and not paying attention to her surrounding when she suddenly heard a loud beep and saw a child about to be hit in front of her. She jumped in front of a bus in order to save the child from getting hit. As she was bleeding out she thought to herself that she was just going to die like that after having lived for no real purpose. She desperately wished to live.

Moments later she wakes up in a whole different environment then what she's used to.

Back to the Present, where we were at, at the beginning of the story.

Selene then understands that she has been reincarnated into the body of Selene Torsney. After realizing her current situation, she quickly changes into a calm attitude for the duke's eldest daughter was known for her calm demeanor. Selene commands that all the servants leave her room.
