( I'm new to this so i hope you enjoy, let me know if i should add to anything! enjoy!!)

As the sun blazed through the small gap from her curtains, her alarm pounded against her bedside table, it awoke Erika drowsy from a deep sleep. She opened her heavy eyes blinded by the rays of sun light seeping underneath her  curtains. Very gracefully  she reached for her phone that was cleverly placed on the other side of the bed. Erika drowsily awoke. Her head heavy and still half asleep, her book from the night before lay open the pages flapping from the breeze from her window that was slightly ajar. The air was light and fresh, the cold breeze pricking at her bare flesh.

Erika tugged her polka duvet of her, and slipped her dainty feet into her slippers that her beloved grandma had brought her the prior Christmas . She jumped and skipped across her floor to avoid her vinyls that were lazily spread across her floor.

The light beamed from her broad windows, the room smelled like linen and fresh flowers

The light beamed from her broad windows, the room smelled like linen and fresh flowers. As Erika carefully trod across her safety hazard of a room, she hazily smiled.  The wall posters shimmered in the sunlight, the small cacti's which sat in unison on the desk glimmered and shone in the light . The curtains were barely drawn, the room had been the same for as long as she could remember, she had added a few plants and posters to try to revive its happy memories and to make it feel more like home.

Ironically as Erika stretched over to grab her phone it started buzzing, the screen lit up with the name Alice dispersed across it. She hesitantly answered the call. This is so like her, a literal wake up call.

"Morning girly!", Alice enthusiastically said. "Morning sunshine", she groggily but yet still sweetly replied.

"I swear you need to get up earlier. I'll be at yours to pick you up in about 15, make sure your ready! I don't want to have to drag your ass out of bed again!", Alice had always been a morning person sadly. Her fiery and passionate personality was so different to Erika's yet they felt like they belonged together, opposites do attract.

"That was the one time!" she replied, " I'll be ready don't worry, see you then." "Love ya." Alice blew a virtual kiss.
"Love you too"

As the call ended, she shuffled out of my trusted room. Her safe space, her haven. The book she had been reading the night before was laid cold on my dotty duvet. The book was the usual romance cliche, but it held some sort of fantasy that was better than the harsh reality of the world. I know it sounds silly but reading is a true way to escape reality. What she would do just to stay in bed all day and read.

She stepped onto the cold tiles on my bathroom, the reflection in the mirror was misted . She  was plain, basic, simple but she could think of no way better to be . After smoothing her hair into a low bun, she reached for her mom jeans and a baggy jumper, she always went for the comfy casual style as it could never go wrong.

She looked over at her phone, the screen displayed the time 8:15. And as if it was a timer it followed with a sync but sudden: Beep.

'Oh shit', she thought to myself.

Beep. Erika sprinted down the stairs onto the warm kitchen tiles, she grabbed a piece of toast smeared with her favourite raspberry jam, that  mum had placed on a plate waiting for her great morning arrival.

"See you later, love you." My mum laughed in reply to me rushing. " Bye Mum."

As she opened the front door she  was welcomed by Alice, and as they  walked down the drive way to her baby pink Volkswagen Beetle, she whistled her tune of morning happiness.

As she reached to open the passenger door for me, she jokingly said " There you go my lady."

"Thank you my Prince Charming." she replied, we both laughed in unison.

On the drive to school, Alyssa was waffling on about a new disagreement between her and her boyfriend, I replied with an occasional yeah or oh no. She always had had all the boys at her feet, begging for a slight bit of her attention. This week Alyssa had seen Mason flirting with another girl at last weeks party, yes there's really a party every week, they were always arguing over something. Behind the scenes of the schools 'it' couple, there were fights, break ups but they were always followed by a make up. Mason was the expected type of guy that Alyssa would spend her time with ; irresistible, hot and blatantly oblivious.

I mean they have dated since preschool, literally. As Alice would phrase it , it'll be a cute story to tell their grandchildren. They were sitting at lunch together, the one day Erika was ill with chickenpox, when Alice's juice box spilled over so he chivalrously offered her his. If only it was still that simple.

Her brakes screeched as we arrived our , really hers , spot in the school parking lot. Mason was standing there waiting for her arrival, his hair in his usual sideward flop.
