SECRETS
where Nat and you have to work to keep your relationship a secret

You and Nat had been dating for approximately four months now, not officially but it had come to the point where you basically were. The only thing that stood between what you had being a proper and fully-fledged relationship was the small inconvenience of avoiding the team finding out, solely because you knew that Steve would expect it to get in the way of missions and Tony would mercilessly tease you both.

It wasn't even your teammates reactions that scared you, the idea of opening up had always been a scary task for the both of you, regardless of personal feelings.

However, it was proving a further difficulty to conceal your secret every passing day.

"Main room in five." Bruce poked his head around the door to the minute library Tony had set up in Stark towers, telling you that there was another task that the Avengers had been asked to sort out.

you'r pov:

I closed the book I'd been reading; a copy of the Catcher in the Rye and stood up from my seat, smoothing out my f/c suit and heading to see what was happening today.

Everyone was already present in the room, bored and expectant expressions gracing their faces as they waited for me.

"Finally!" Tony exaggerated. "Congrats on finally parting with that book, we know you have no love life but is an inanimate object really the way to go?" He teased

As I sat down in the only open spot beside Natasha, I caught her smirking as her hand went to rest on my thigh beneath the table and away from the prying eyes of the team.

"Sorry guys." I mumbled.

Steve rolled his eyes as he stood up to announce the task ahead. "Today we're going to fly too somewhere in the south-west of America. We'll stay over night then tomorrow we'll crash a conference being held. We'll evacuate the people inside whilst y/n, Natasha and Clint un-arm the host and take him into custody where he'll be sent to the fridge. This hosts plan is to send shock waves throughout the audience will put them in a trance allowing them to be controlled. This will happen at the end of the conference so we need to arrive well before then."

"You got it Captain." I mock-saluted, whilst everyone else simply nodded their heads.

Everyone left to grab their equipment leaving Nat and I alone in the room.

"Guess we can't go on that date tonight." I mumbled as she pulled me into her, lacing her arms around my waist.

She smirked at me, I knew that look and internally sighed. "I'm sure the others won't notice if we have our own little date in the hotel room." She winked and pecked my lips quickly before letting go and swaying out the room.

Later that evening, the group bundled into the hotel. Bruce distributed the keys and everyone headed up for a few hours of much needed sleep.

I trailed behind them last and snuck into Natasha's room, shoving my keys onto the coffee table and jumping onto the bed.

From the adjoining bathroom I heard the shower turn off and Natasha walked out with a fluffy hotel towel wrapped around her.

"What a surprise." She grinned, sarcastically upon seeing me sprawled put across the bed.

I pouted. "I missed you." I cooed.

"Sure did you miss me or my candles." She asked, raising an eyebrow suggestively.

I pretended to think for a moment then let out a small giggle. "Cuddles of course." I smiled.

"Fine just let me get changed and then we can sleep, I don't know about you but I'm in need of some."

I woke up with one arm draped around my girlfriend's waist and her long legs tangled with mine.

"Good morning," she grumbled, her morning voice she slowly opening emerald eyes releasing a plethora a butterflies within my stomach.

"Morning babe." I said.

Natasha reached across me and grabbed a stripey hoody and pair of joggers. "We got to get up." She whispered. "Steve what's a meeting before we embark on this mission."

Moaning at the cold, I bundled myself out of bed and grabbed the nearest t-shirt, pulling it on and slipping my feet into a pair of novelty red crocs Tony had bought me.

I waited five minutes after Natasha left the room before following after her. I shuffled into the hotel lounge, rubbing my eyes to get rid of the sleep.

It was weirdly quiet, none of the usual bickering before a small mission.

"Strange." I thought, then looked up to see the Avengers all gaping at me and Natasha smirking so much it was a surprise her lips hadn't leaped off her face.

I looked around confused. "Have I got something on my face, ohhh did I forget to brush my hair?" I asked puzzled still.

"Nice shirt y/n." Clint grinned, pointing at the black long-sleeved t-shirt I'd pulled on earlier.

I felt my heart drop as I peered down at it, there was a huge widow-spider on the front. Everyone knew that Steve had bought it for Natasha after he visited some weird shop, I'm not sure when but it was defiantly Natasha's.

I shrugged meekly. "I can explain?"
