That Time I Was a Cat (1981 words)

I was walking home from volleyball practice with some of my friends. "Hey, Kageyama? What do you think we're gonna do tomorrow?" I asked Kageyama, his black hair was ruffled by the stinging wind that winter brought.

"Maybe we're gonna go into a secret cave and use a magical gem that turns us into a random animal!" Yamaguchi answered for him.

"That's stupid Yamaguchi." Kageyama looked at him with piercing eyes, like he always did when he was annoyed and wanted to eat.

"Hey, Kageyama, why so hostile all of the sudden?" Daichi returned Kageyama's piercing gaze. Kageyama looked down.

"Hey look! Over there! There's a creepy cave that I shouldn't go explore but I will anyway!!!" Tanaka ran over to a big, dark cave that appeared out of nowhere. Where did that come from?? I thought blankly, walking towards the cave without hesitation.

"Come on guys! It looks safe." I yelled, but Tsukkishima looked skeptical about the whole 'dark cave that could possibly hold a magic gem inside' thing.

I heard Tanaka's voice from deep inside the cave. "Guys!!! I see something glowing!"

At that statement, everyone barged into the cave like a pack of wild animals. I ran to the inside of the cave and saw a small glowing stone; Tanaka and Noya were tossing it around. "GUYS!! Stop messing with that. What if you accidentally 'activate' it???" I tried to get them to stop.

"There's no way that this thing is magical." Noya looked at me, and then continued tossing the glowing rock.

"Yeah, says the one thats tossing a glowing stone! Be more careful!" ,at that moment, the stone started flickering, on and off it went.

Then it started glowing radiant light that was so bright it filled the whole cave. "Hinata... what did you do?!" Kageyama looked at me with a fear-filled face.

"Me?! I didn't do anything!!! Tanaka and Noya were the ones throwing it around!!!" I yelled at Kageyama.

"Uhh... guys, did you notice the world getting bigger, or is that just me?" Daichi looked at us with a troubled look. Then a scent hit my nose, like nothing I've ever smelled before. "Guys, *sniff* do you smell that?" asked Tanaka.

"Yeah. it does not smell good, that's for sure." Tsukkishima answered him.

And just like that, the smell went away as quickly as it had come. I wonder what that was... i thought to myself.

Then the stone stopped glowing, and I could see. What is happening?! I thought. I can see, in the DARK. what is going on?!

"Guys.. i can smell everything." Yamaguchi said.

I looked at Yamaguchi. H-he was a... he was a cat. "Uhm, Yamaguchi? Y-you're a cat." I said. He looked at me too. "You are too!!!" I looked at my arms. They were on the ground. Why were my arms on the ground?! Why can I smell everything?

I looked beside myself.

My clothes.

Me, and all of us had no clothes on...

"Guys... i just noticed, but we all uhh... don't have clothes..." Yamaguchi pointed it out before I could. "What-" Kageyama stopped. "What the flip am I?!" he asked. Though it was more of a statement than a question.

"What is going on?" Tanaka asked, and no one answered.

"Lets go explore!!!" Noya crushed every little bit of doubt in the now large cave that they had to find their way out of.

Of course, Noya and Tanaka were the first ones to leave the cave. One after the other everyone eventually found their way out of the cave. I could see everyone clearly now- as a cat of course, kageyama had black fur with crystal blue eyes, tanaka had grey and white fur with dark grey eyes, noya had black fur with orange patches all around with big brown eyes, Tsukishima had a yellow tabby pelt with brown eyes, yamaguchi had brownish-green tabby fur with white paws and dark green eyes, daichi had brown tabby fur with brown eyes and i had bright orange fur; not surprised.
