Heya, I'm Laf and my oneshots are rather long and are marked with music box and kalimba covers- I suggest playing it in the background whilst reading.
This is the 1700's so both you and Player are referred to with thee/thy/thou pronouns however you still are gender neutral. Have fun reading. (:
///A soft hum flooded your ears, the tune wavering as you got closer and closer to the lake you visited every day. The song was sung lowly most likely by a man from the sound of it ringing through the woods surrounding the lake.
When you had finally reached the body of water, you noticed a figure crouched down in front of the water. They seemed to be in a world of their own. The person dressed as any other man would these days, the whole long, mocha trenchcoat and cravat deal. The person also seemed to have a maroon bandana, those were rather rare to see around England because of the war that was taking place with America.
You eventually got close enough to where they realised that you were there. The persons head whipped around to look at you as the faint look of surprise washed over their face.
"Oh- oh hello!" The person quickly spoke and turning their full body to get a better look at you, before promptly standing up.
It was only then you realised how tall they were. The people you met these days were usually around 5'9, but they were much taller and towered over you.
Taking a good look at them, you took in their features. The black eyes staring back at you and their hair was a short pile of auburn curls that swayed loosely with the quiet wind."Hello? Mx? Art thou feeling alright?"
The persons voice quickly snapping you out of your daze as you fumble to speak an apology."It's fine, say I haven't seen you around Whitechapel- art thou new around here?" Their question lingering in your mind for a moment longer before you nod your response.
They smile, content with your response before bowing to you and holding out their hand for you to shake."Well then, my name is Banji- however the townsfolk like to call me Player." Player's soft tone had changed to a more confident one as they introduced themselves to you.
"My name is Y/N. It's lovely to meet thee Player." You spoke with an equally confident voice as if you were trying to keep up with them. You held out your hand and grasped theirs and immediately noticed how cold their hands were; a stark comparison to your rather warm ones.
Players soft smile did not leave their face as they shook your hand twice, before bringing it up to their mouth and kissing the back of it.
You can feel your face warm at the gesture and you took your hand away and put it beside you- Banji's gaze not leaving you."Well I for one think you're a wonderful person from what I can see- it'd be a shame if I didn't speak to you again Y/N." The taller person complimented you, their hand placed on your shoulder as they continued on as if nothing had happened. While you exactly couldn't stop thinking about it.
"Say. If thee has the spare time, perhaps maybe I could walk thee home and we could meet here again tomorrow?"You blinked a few times at the offer as you processed it in your mind, the thought of it was pleasant in your head and so you nodded your agreement.
Player's smile transformed into a big grin as they stood backward and silently cheered- something that you didn't see a lot of people do as many others were to have a professional image. It warmed your heart to see their reaction and you giggled silently at it."Now, onto that walk home?" Player said after regaining their composure and holding their arm out link with yours. You took your arm in theirs and told Banji where you resided.
The knowing look on their face was enough for you to know that they knew Whitechapel well enough to know where you lived.
