Tap, tap, tap

"You agree with me, don't you, Victoria?" My mother and father go on about what color I look great in. I sigh as one of the maids continue to do my hair. Sarah, her name was. She gives me small smiles once in a while, whenever my parents feel the need to let out their frustration towards me. I give her a reassuring smile back, letting her know that I'm alright. I'm used to it now.

Tap, tap, tap.

I tap my fingers on the chairs arm rest until my mother demands for me to stop because it's "hurting her head." I cross my legs and look out the window. My mother's voice fading as she continues to argue with my father.

"Victoria. Victoria!" She yells, which snaps me back into reality, "You didn't answer my question. Do you agree with me, young lady?"

Sarah taps my shoulder, letting me know that she's done with my hair. I get up and close my eyes for a second and let out another sigh before I turn to her and answer, "Yes, mother. I agree with both of you. And arguing about colors isn't going to make your head any better. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go fit myself into some dress. Which will take a while," I say before closing the door, "A long while!" I yell to them down the hall.

And it does. It takes a long, long while to fit into the gown. My mother always tried to make me feel bad about my body. She tells me I'm just right but always wants me to eat less so I could stay that way.

As soon as the dress is on, along with some painful shoes, I wait patiently behind two long doors as two guards stand holding the handle. I wave my hand slowly in front of one of their faces but they remain still. I poke his arm but still, nothing. I try the other one, but he also remains still.

Fuck it, I thought.

"All rise," I hear from the inside of the room. I straighten my posture and tuck my hair behind one of my ears, "I give you," he announces, "Princess Victoria Manchester of Zariya."

Authors Note - Okay so first of all, I just want to start off by saying that this is not the first book that I've written and second, Zariya is pronounced ZAH-RY-YAH.. just wanted to make that clear. I'm really excited to be sharing this journey with you all. I also want to say that if you are reading this book, I'm really surprised haha, but also VERY thankful, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you. And lastly, you are not alone and I'm here if you want to talk about anything. I will also really appreciate ideas or any advice. Thank you again :)!

And also, I know this chapter is a bit short and no, the chapters usually aren't going to be this short haha. But I'm trying my best and writing as much as I can so I could finish doing everything else so I'm really sorry, and I promise to try to update when I can. I'll be answering any questions you have in the comments.
