TRAINING
"Why are we snooping?" Soleia whispers.
"Just wanted to see what the specialists are up to." Stella says, crossing her arms.
"This is snooping." Leia says.
"So, after your classes, you are all mine." Silva says.
"Guess you'll have to compete with him for Sky's attention." Soleia comments.
"And I like the things I own to work well, so you will train every day. Find your skill. Hone your skill. And eventually, even you, can fight like him." Silva says, sneaking up on Sky as the two sparred for a moment.
"It'd be funny if he fell." Soleia says, seeing Sky and Silva block each other.
"He is the best one out of his class." Stella says, proudly.
"Yeah and if he fell?" Leia asks, right before Sky tripped.
It was just a coincidence she thought. She wasn't an air fairy, she couldn't have pushed a gust of wind to trip Sky up.
"He fights even better with a bit of advance warning," Sky responds.
"He did alright, favored his left but what else is new?" Silva says, proudly.
"Sky's father was Andreas of Eraklyon. That made him a legacy admission but he still showed up on the first day and did the work. I expect nothing less from the rest of you. Whether you're third generation and your parents demanded you come, or if I personally selected you from your realms for service. That decision was made based on your natural talents in combat and weaponry." Silva says.
"You think I could be a specialist?" Soleia jokes.
"You are a Princess." Stella says.
"Oh come on, Miss Perfect you can be the princess for both of us." Leia says.
HEADMISTRESS DOWLING'S OFFICE
"Headmistress Dowling?" Leia asks, knocking on the door.
"Soleia. I thought you might be stopping by." She says, looking up at Soleia.
"Uh I don't know if there was a mix-up or something, but I only have one class on my schedule? I mean all the other first years have more." Leia asks.
"That was intentional." The headmistress says.
"May I ask why? Did my mother say something?" She asks, confused.
"You will be spending the rest of your learning doing your independent study," Headmistress answers, not giving her much information.
"Why can't I just learn with everyone else? Stella does it." Leia asks.
"Your powers.. they're special. Unlike any other fairy." Dowling says.
"What's that supposed to mean? I'm a light fairy, I should be doing what the other girls are doing." Leia says.
"You have the powers of a light fairy, but there is much more for you to learn," Dowling says.
"Why can't I just learn with everyone else?" Leia asks.
"You want to know why?" Dowling asks, getting a head nod from Leia.
Dowling gets up and goes across the room where the birdcage was hanging. She then signaled for Leia to walk over.
"What are you doing?" Soleia asks, seeing Dowling take the bird out of the cage. She grabbed the bird and snapped its neck.
"WHAT THE HELL?! Did you just kill that bird?!"Leia yells.
"Did you feel that?" She asks.
"Feel what? Terror?" Leia responds.
"That power," Dowling says, looking at her. She took a deep breath and realized it. She felt the power, it was a little boost but she felt it.
"Wait what does killing a bird have to do with fairy powers?" She asks.
"Pick up the bird." Dowling orders.
"But it's dead, what am I gonna do with-" She protests before getting cut off by Dowling.
"Pick it up." Dowling repeats.
"Okay! Okay!" Leia says, picking the bird up. She held it in her palms for a few moments as she felt the cold lifeless bird warm-up back to life again.
"W-What the hell? How did that happen?" Leia asks, confused.
"Soleia, you are no ordinary Fairy." Dowling says.
"Am I even a fairy?! I've never heard of this happening." Soleia says.
"I'll see you for your independent study." Dowling says.
"But this still doesn't explain anything!" Soleia objects.
OUTSIDE THE BARRIER
Riven sat down on the rocks, smoking peacefully before he heard some rustling through the woods.
She was confused, but she needed some time to clear her head of what just happened. She was a light fairy, she didn't know how she could just do that. There were always coincidences that happened around her that she sometimes couldn't explain.
Soleia had been walking for a while before she heard some rustling.
"Hello? Is anyone out there?" She called out. She got no response.
"AHHH!" A yell echoes throughout the forest.
"HELLO?!" She yells, sprinting towards the source.
"Riven?" She asks, seeing him distraught.
"There's a body." He says, looking down at the body on the ground.
"Is he dead?" She asks.
"Have you looked at him? No one survives this." Riven says. The body was decapitated.
"Let me try something." Soleia says, approaching the body.
She leaned down and grabbed the hand of the corpse, but it wasn't coming back to life like the bird did.
"What the fuck are you doing? Princess got a thing for necrophilia now?" He asks.
Nothing happened.
"I was trying something. But I guess I'm all out of options." Soleia says.
BLOOM AND AISHA
"Oh god, you're a changling." Aisha realizes, as Soleia was turning down the hall.
"What's that? Aisha what's a changling?" Bloom asks. Soleia was slowly approaching the girls.
"A changling is a fairy baby that's switched with a human one at birth." Aisha says.
"Wait what?" Bloom asks.
"It's barbaric and it barely ever happens anymore." Aisha says.
"It's a myth, it's not even real." Soleia says.
"That's not possible- that's not what happened." Bloom denies.
"You're very powerful, Bloom. You have to be pureblooded." Aisha says.
"I would know if my parents weren't my parents." Bloom says.
