finding my class was easier than yesterday although I did happen to take a few wrong turns but I got here way easier. opening the door the class was already filled and murmurs were spreading throughout much like last time the teacher wasn't in the class yet.  luckily no one was in the seat I sat in last time. smiling at myself o started my walk towards the back of the class.

"Toni topaz totally hooked up with that one girl" I heard as I passed by the first row of the desk. my eyebrows raised. people were seriously talking about this? that was two days ago.

"heard she's from upstate." another boy said behind them. I walked slower as I passed by.  I needed to hear this conversation. so instead of the back o sat behind the boy who had said that.

"apparently her name Cheryl" another girl chipped in. uh oh, there are multiple Cheryl's at this school I'm sure it could be anyone. they're not gonna connect the dots anytime soon.

"I don't know any Cheryl's," the boy said and the three girls nodded agreeing with his statement. oh fuck. so much for my first theory. well hopefully if I lay low they won't know my name, Cheryl. who's gonna talk to me ? not anyone I know because I don't know anyone but veronica and lord know what she's doing right now.

before their conversation could continue the teacher walked in and once again the class went quiet. he walked over to his desk holding a Starbucks coffee in his hand. he smiled his pearly whites at the class before clearing his throat.

"Hello class, I hope y'all are all having a magical morning" dr Haines hummed out. everyone kept quiet so he laughed to himself. "not very talkative this morning huh?" he asked before taking a gulp of his coffee and setting it down.

"TALL nettles cover-up, as they have done
These many springs, the rusty harrow, the plough
Long worn out, and the roller made of stone:
Only the elm butt tops the nettles now. This corner of the farmyard I like most:
As well as any bloom upon a flower
I like the dust on the nettles, never lost
Except to prove the sweetness of a shower"

Dr. Haines said allowed his voice soft and calming the slight accent making it even more enjoyable to listen to. chapter amongst the class made the man take a fake bow before laughing it off

"tall nettles by Edward Thomas" he informed the class. "the poem simply asks us to see as much beauty in the world as possible, even where one doesn't expect to find it," he said running his fingers in his forearm.

"See how he turned just a simple flower to a complex meaning? that's what I was to see that poem was only 8 lines. that's all I'm asking yeah?" he hummed before sitting down at his desk.

"how many of you have started to work on it?" dr Haines asked and only two hands shot up. he shook his head with a raspy laugh before starting again.

"well how many of you have at least picked a flower to write about?" he restated his question. my heart dropped as I realized everyone's hands were up, but me.

he stood up from his desk and made eye contact with me.

"ms blossom, don't tell me you're giving up already?" he huffed walking down the aisle to my desk.

"of course not I've just yet to find a flower," I let out in one breath.

"sunflower," he shrugged.

"what?"

"that's your flower, a sunflower." dr Haines said and I wanted to roll my eyes so bad. what was this, kindergarten? to say I was annoyed was an understatement.
