It was January 3rd. Dakota and I had been dating for 2 months, 2 week, and 2 days now, which we had started on October 23rd that day at the park under the tree. Our parents knew, and actually both sets supported us fully. My mum adored Dakota, and my father fund  of her intellect and wit. I hadn’t really met her parents that much to have them get an opinion upon me, we spend most our time in the city or at my home. We had only been at her house about 9 times. Although Dakota insured me that I’d be loved by them, I still worried.

It was about 1ish, I was training at my gym with my MMA partner on some new styles, I had the honor of Dakota there with me. As my partner and I fought she watched, which just made me go harder and faster then I would’ve if she hadn’t been there, in which I think my partner was wishing she hadn’t of been there. We went a few rounds then had break, Jackal, my sparring partner did some bag work well I just talked to Dakota, I probably should have done the same because the next round he double jabbed me and I hit the mat like a rock, due to the fact he keep his adrenalin going well I calmed down with Dakota. It was ok though, I got back up and we kept going for a while.

After training I went for a shower to clean off the sweat. I had this necklace on that my Papa gave me as a boy, it was a gold madeleine with the union jack on the front protected by a soldier, and on the back in small, small words was wrote, “Anyone can fight for his cause, but only men will die for it”. I’ve always felt proud the wear it as my own, to have a saying to stand upon and fight for, no, die for. After my shower I went to the gyms wide open training area, but Dakota was nowhere to be found. I asked around for a bit then saw her walking in the front door with two ice creams. I walked up her and she smiled then turned to the side ever so slightly well crossing arms hands together. Then went to give me my ice cream and pushed it into my nose, I smiled and she licked it off and we kissed like you’d see in a movie or book.

We left the gym an went for a walk down the street towards a large building that my mother worked in. it was a fairly cold day out, Dakota was shivering so I put my arm around her as we walked. Most of the stores and such still had their Halloween decorations up, there was even a nice elderly man giving away what he had left of candy to people. We were just about to my mums work, she was an international representative for the United Kingdom, and she was in a meeting till 2:30 and it was 2:23 so we had some time to kill away so I took Dakota to a lovely little Chinese stand that was on the side of the street, And bought her a white rose in which I gave to her on one knee like a gentleman.

When we arrived at my mothers work we entered through the front into a lobby that look all the way to the top of the building. We had to wait there for my mum because anything higher than the first floor required clearance do to the importance of the information being discussed in the rooms. We got coffee from a place in the loby, well actually I got tea and Dakota got coffee but whatever. When my mum saw me she yelled out “there’s my little crumpet!” which caused Dakota to laugh. I got up and greeted my mother with a hug and offered her a cup of tea I bought her. We all sat at the table for a while, Dakota beside me and my mum on the side of the table. We talked for a bit, Dakota asked her about her job and she answered the way she always does, “Oh dear, it is not a job, but yet an honor to do what I do”. My mother held country almost as high as family, sometimes higher on some days. We were getting ready to leave when Dakota let out a yawn and said “wow, I wish you guys had a driver, cause I’m pooped” my mother and I both looked at each other and smiled. My mother picked up her phone and called a number, then said “Arthur, bring the Cadillac around front right away please”. The look upon Dakota’s face was priceless.
