Give Me Calm Control

12 1 1

I'm tired of staring at an empty page

Hoping that words of sage

Can change  my anger and pent-up rage

Into calm control...

Oh, how I need some.

I listen for the voice inside

To invigorate and capture wide

All of my frustrations

And replace my stubborn pride.

Thirty seconds is all I have

To diffuse the escalation

Reframe the way things are

Confirm the sun is still our star

This is it! Can I cool the fire?

As my voice rises higher

Focused breath don't fail me now

Please give me calm control.

If you remain deeply disappointed

Then say so

I will try to answer your concern

as you sway to and fro.

And dredge up what is underneath

What is below

And try to take control of

My musical tempo.

Thirty seconds is all I have

To diffuse the escalation

Reframe the way things are

Confirm the sun is still our star.

This is it! Can I cool the fire?

As my voice rises higher

Focused breath don't fail me now

Please give me calm control.

I am looking at the scribbled lines

Ink smears that I hardly know

Stains produced from my mind

Tales that tend to grow.

What more can I write or say?

Feelings are my staple

I use them to write my songs

Feelings make me able.

To live in calm control

To live in calm control

Thirty seconds is all I have

To diffuse the escalation

Reframe the way things are

Confirm the sun is still our star

This is it! Can I cool the fire?

As my voice rises higher

Focused breath don't fail me now

Please give me calm control.
