Mikado* - like a type of thick silk
*****
It was the morning of the winter dance - they were calling it "The Snowball, 1986" and the whole year group was buzzing. The atmosphere of excitement was present as you walked through the hallways - girls talking about how they were going to style their hair, what colour dress they were going to wear, boys all talking about who they were going with.
"You're taking Hange, right?"
"Duh. Who're you taking?"
"I was thinking of..." he cleared his throat.
"Asking Rico."
"You're gonna take Rico? But... I thought you liked Marie?" Mike asked, eyes wide.
"Well...lately, Rico's kind of been growing on me," Erwin admitted, smiling while looking at her a few desks down.
"Pfft, cheesy bastard," Levi scoffed, chuckling dryly.

Finally, the afternoon came and school was out for the day. Nanaba invited the girls to her humble abode, ushering them into her bedroom. It entirely reflected her as a person - the room was decorated with all her favourite things. The colours were bravely chosen, yet also subtle.
Her accent wall was a burnt orange and filled to the brim with basketball merch, her jersey and band posters, like "Starship", "The Clash" and her personal favourite "AC/DC".
"So let's talk business," Rico started, crashing on the bed and tossing her school bag on the floor.
"We're totally hitting the mall," she said, looking down at her nails.
"I was just about to say that," Petra agreed, taking out her purse from her bag.
Hange raised her hand slightly.
"I-I didn't bring my wallet..."
"I'll buy something for you," Nanaba said, her words strained and echoing from her wardrobe.
She was already submerged in a pile of clothes. Having had dived too far into her wardrobe to find her purse, and partly to see if she had anything in her wardrobe. But surprise, surprise, look who doesn't wear dresses (!)
Before they knew it, they were in the mall, causing all sorts of chaos - these weren't your ordinary girls who were simply excited by the mall. These are the girls who go into the mall with the intention of buying something, and come out with every sort of thing apart from the thing they intended buying in the beginning.
Nanaba had already broken three pairs of sunglasses, Hange had accidentally upset someone's baby by knocking the candy out of its hand, Rico had an argument with one of the cashiers for short-changing her, and they lost Petra for all of fourteen minutes.
Chaotic, was the only way to describe these four when put in a mall together.
"Rico, that would look so good on you!" Petra encouraged, clasping her hands together and grinning.
They stopped at a shop when Rico had spotted a dress from the window that she was practically in love with.
It was a pastel, lilac calf-length dress, sporting a boat neckline that was embroidered with lace, also found on the rim of the skirt. The blouse half had sleeves that covered three quarters of her arm, and the bodice was elasticated in tight ruffles that hugged her figure, allowing the skirt half to flow. Small pearls that glinted in the light were scattered around the lower part of the skirt, embedded in the lace, making them look like flowers in bloom.
She posed in front of the mirror, playing with the skirt. She had the perfect diamond earrings to go with this.
"You should buy it!" Hange said eagerly, her eyes forming hearts at the sight of the dress.
"Okay, I will. But now... it's your turn to find a dress," she smirked, pressing her thin-rimmed glasses up to the bridge of her nose.
"N-nah, that won't be necessary. Dresses aren't really my style-
"Nonsense~. Come this way. I saw a really cute one that would suit you!" she exclaimed, dragging Hange by her creased sleeve.
