My life was taken by a dreaded monster. Cancer.
But now I'm breathing. Speaking. Thinking. Those scientists needed bodies. And I had one. My parents gave up. They forgot about me. So the scientists went into the morgue and gathered their specimens.
One issue with getting results from a dead girl is that she's well... dead.
So they slapped together a machine and implanted it in my back, brain, and heart. Ever since then I've been trapped in this prison of a lab.
Not a single person calls me by my name, and it's been so long that I can't even remember it. I just go by "you."
This morning I tried to kill myself. It was the only way to escape. Unfortunately, they were all one step ahead of me. A simple procedure and shock of electricity and I was breathing.
Now they're hovering over the machine. The shell of a life I once had. They exchange irritated looks. They complain about the money the mechanics cost and how I should've know better. I lie there, helpless. Why try to fight back.
Man, I hate upgrades.
