Our great escape

Gildas pov

I run behind my siblings i can still see and smell the smoke from the burning house behind us ray and Emma lead the way lead our way to freedom and a new life where we are not gonna become food to demons.

We will be free..

My feet pound against the ground hues of green and brown pass by me and the others. I stay near the back of the group on the look out for the demons and where they could be lurking

We had ziplined over the cliff about 15 minutes ago the face of our mum still engraved in my mind. I'm afraid of what will happen now even with the planning we put into this all those months spent trying to formulate a plan of how to survive out in the forest and how to find Mr minerva.

I let don take control of lookout as I start to run ahead of the others checking in my peripheral vision to see they are ok and not fatigued from the running I come closer to Emma and ray i can see Emmas bright orange hair bounce with her Steps.

"Emma" i say as I come to a slower pace
"Oh Gilda. What are you doing up here"
"Just needing to know how long until we stop and ta..."

An arm shoots in front of me stopping me in my tracks
"Look at those vines we need to find a way around we don't want to fall under you can tell from the positioning of them" ray informs me

I look down. I can see the black under the vines and I can tell that isn't dirt we need to find a way out soon before the demons know where we are I'm sure mum would have told them that we got into the woods

"We can try and climb the trees to get over they are close enough similar to the house that we can jump across them" I suggest
"How do we get up thou" Emma says looking at me I look back at here with a smirk on my face "we climb"....

As it was my idea everyone volunteered  me to climb up the tree it was a good 20 metres after getting up to the top I look over the sea of green and I can see the sky I also see a bridge about 5 miles from where we are from the bridge there is more trees however they are smaller and i can see buildings houses and skyscrapers i look in awe forgetting about what we had just done.

Soon I hear a shouting looking down at the ground the rest of the kids were trying to get my attention I realise what I'm doing up here and tie the rope I brought with me to the branch im on letting the rest fall to the ground.

After a good half hour most of us are at the top of the tree don is currently climbing and Emma is still at the bottom.

After another 15 minutes we are all on our way to freedom

The smaller children are holding up well we are now nearer to the bridge and its seems like its all clear from here although the may take a break shortly to rest up

I've been wanting to tell them all a secret of mine and I want to do it soon although now may not be the best time to do so......nevermind ill deal with that later now I just need to help my family get across that bridge.

But..... its been too easy we haven't seen any demons yet I don't know if they think that we have already died or they think we haven't gotten that far yet its concerning to day the least im worried....

Ok so this is the first time I've tried to actually write a fanfiction instead of doing it in my head and to say the least its harder than I imagined
I'm open to criticism please tell me how I can do better and sorry there is no proper action in this chapter there will be in the next chapter thou
