The 4th of July.
In her opinion, best day of the year.
Fireworks, hot dogs, hamburgers, but most importantly, friends.Waking up was never easy for Gabi. Considering, she goes to bed at six in the morning every night.
-
"Miss Gabrielle." someone whispered."Go away." Gabi mumbled.
"Miss Sinclair. Mrs. Master told Ninny to come wake up Miss Gabi.." the house elf muttered, poking at the sleeping girl.
"I'm up." Gabi said, remaining in her position.
"O-oh okay." Ninny said at last, leaving Gabi's room.
-
The wind whistled as the brown haired girl got out of bed.
Frost across the windowsill, cold to the touch."Hey family!" said Aurora, Gabi's BFF, walking in from the garage.
The two girls met when they were 3 and have become inseparable ever since.
"Hey Rora!" Gabi said.
"Sooo." Aurora said, climbing onto the counter. "Any updates on Adam?"
"No. And I'd appreciate it if you could not bring him up in literally every conversation we have." Gabi said, irritated. "Toast?"
"Ooh yes please." said Aurora. "Well, you're gonna have to change your 'tude because I may have invited Adam to the fourth of July party.."
"YOU WHAT?!" Gabi shouted.
The toast popped out, frightening the pair of friends.
"I invited him.. to the fourth of July party?" Aurora uttered.
"Why?" Gabi asked, disappointed.
"It'll be good for you two." Aurora said, in a motherly manner.
"Oh whatever." Gabi said, rolling her eyes playfully.
"What time is it?" Aurora questioned.
"It's 1:15, why?" Gabi asked.
"Time to get ready, cmon!!" Aurora said, dragging Gabi away from her breakfast.
-
The two girls walked into the arcade.
"There you are, love." Adam said, wrapping an arm around Gabi's waist.
"I'm not your love." Gabi stated, before removing his arm.
-
The group of friends hung out for a few hours, conversing with each other, playing arcade games, and laughing until it was officially dark.
"Firework time!!" Aurora said, thrilled.
And so the group took off, leaving Aurora and Gabi trudding behind them.
"You should kiss him at the finale." Rora whispered.
"In your dreams." Gabi scoffed.
No way was she kissing that frog.
-
Cheers.
It was the finale and the last firework bursted into the air, leaving a trail of smoke behind it.
Turning to face Adam, she grabs him by the shirt and presses her lips against his.
After a while, they pulled back.
"That was.." Adam started.
"Yeah." Gabi finished.
-
"YOU KISSED HIM ON THE LIPS" Rora said as they entered Gabi's house.
"Ugh. Don't remind me. "Oh hey Ninny." I can't believe I actually followed through with it." Gabi said.
"Miss M-master is waiting for you in the k-kitchen.." Ninny said, before scurrying off.
"Did she just stutter?" Rora asked, surprised.
"I don't know, I'll meet you in my room." Gabi said before turning to the kitchen.
"Mom?" Gabi asked.
"Gabrielle." her mom said, looking up from the table.
Her eyes were swollen as if she had been crying.
Glass on the floor.
Windows smashed.
Doors broken."Mom. What happened?" Gabrielle said in shock.
"Y-your father. He left." Alana said before returning to her sobs.
"What are we-"
"We're moving." Alana said. "There's a wizarding school I attended when I was your age. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Headmaster Dumbledore knows our situation and has agreed to you going there."
"When." Gabi said.
"Tomorrow." Alana said.
