A woman walked through a vast forest, a smile on her face. She skipped through the trees, humming a calm tune. Nothing could bother her, atleast not right now. Suddenly, she lost her balance when a plant knocked her over. She fell on her face, letting out a small yelp as she did so. Groaning, she stood up and turned around, looking at whatever knocked her over

Turning around, she saw a little plant child, with a sprout on their head, with foliage covering their body. The woman looked at this plant with absolute shock. Plant hybrids were incredibly rare, being almost creatures of legend. The woman walked to the plant slowly, seeing it look deep into her soul. It then spoke

"Hi. My name Henpoyo. The forest speaks to me, and it say that you nice. You lost?"

It said in slightly broken English. The woman looked at it, awe in her eyes. It could speak somewhat fluent English too? Shaking her head, she spoke

"My name is.. Emily. I was going through the forest to see some friends.. how did you get here by the way? Usually people like you.. don't last very long."

She said, hinting at the severe lack of hybrids. Maybe Hen could be the last of its kind. No, there's no way it could be. There's definitely more. They just needed to be found

"I born here. The forest gave me life, and I protect the forest. But forest wants me to leave and explore world. But me no want to. Me scared of what outside forest."

Emily looked at the plant hybrid, before giving it a soft smile. She then came up with an idea

"How about you come with me then? I can help protect you from what wants to harm you. Would you like that?"

The forest groaned, trees shook and the wind quickened. Then it softened down, becoming a still silence. Hen stood up and looked at Emily, giving a smile. Emily smiled back and began to walk, being followed by Hen. They walked for a few more hours, not being able to leave the forest quite yet before Emily made camp

She found a good, open spot before starting a fire, using two rocks and some sticks to do so. As the fire roared, she noticed that Hen was standing significantly farther back from the fire than needed. Curious, she spoke

"Hen, why are you so worried? I know you're a plant, but as long as you're careful, you'll be fine! Besides, it feels nice. Give it a try!"

With that bit of encouragement, Hen got a little closer to the fire. Then a little more. Then some more. Eventually, they were as close to it as Emily was. Hen looked at the fire with awe, feeling their normally frigid body warm up to a comfortable feeling. It was nice

"See? It's not so bad! You just gotta try it, right?"

Emily said, smiling at Hen. Hen smiled back, before moving back a bit. They laid in the grass, looking up to the now black and starry sky. And with that, they fell asleep, being watched over by Emily. Speaking of which, she looked into the fire, seeing a reflection of herself. It didn't seem right, crackling and being torn to bits before being reassembled. It then vanished, along with the fire, which was suddenly put out. Emily jumped back, standing up and alert. She looked around the trees, trying to find something, anything that could be there. But she saw nothing. Maybe it was.. just a strong breeze. Emily sighed and sat down, drowsy. Yawning, she fell asleep, leaving the two in the arms of the forest

The next day, Emily was woken up by Hen, who was throwing acorns at her from a treetop. Emily groaned, letting out a groan as she was hit in the forehead by an acorn. She looked up at Hen, glaring at the plant. She grabbed one of the acorns and threw it at the plant with such force that it made them lose their balance. As Hen laid on the ground, Emily couldn't help but laugh. And soon, Hen did too
