Arsen

I cursed Jax again as I walked to my car.

Today of all days! He just had to find his mate today.

Although, I did find it interesting we both found ours on the same day. I'd have to ask Mr. Hadley if something similar had happened with him and my dad, his Beta.

I smiled when I got to my car, admiring the way the sun glinted off the black paint of the 1970 Ford Mustang. It was one of my few prized possessions.

My dad and I had found it in a junkyard when I was sixteen. Dead engine, full of rust and and riddled with dents. We'd made a deal that if I could fix it up, I could keep it. It had been one of the most frustrating summers of my life.

Luckily, I had Jax. He knew more about cars than almost anyone I knew, and between the two of us, it was running in a few weeks.

I unlocked the door and slid into the supple leather drivers seat. The engine roared to life as I turned the key and I sighed. For once, I didn't want to leave school.

My phone buzzed and I pulled it out of my pocket. There was a text from Tyler.

"Yo, she's cute right?"

I chuckled, quickly texting him back. Cute? She was downright gorgeous. Cute was an insult.

"That's an understatement."

"Told ya. She was just asking about you."

I smiled down at my phone, feeling butterflies in my stomach.

"Like what?"

"Well I mentioned that we used to play hockey together and that seemed to pique her interest. She IS from Philly, I wonder if she's a Flyers fan..."

"Oh no."

"Lol."

"Well what else did she ask?"

"Arsen, are you interested in this girl? 😧"

I paused with my fingers over the screen, smiling like an idiot.

"...It's her."

"?"

"She's the one."

"WHAT? Like she's your mate? Holy shit! Are you sure? How would you know?"

"Yea, I knew it the second I saw her. I just know. It's hard to explain."

"Omg. Does she know?"

"I doubt it, she's human. I know she felt it too but she probably has no idea what it was."

I frowned. She was probably so confused right now. How do you go about telling a stranger that you happen to be a werewolf and that they're your perfect soulmate, without making them run away screaming in the other direction? I'd always assumed my mate would be another wolf, I hadn't even thought about the possibility of being mates with a human.

Another text came through.

"Bro this is crazy!"

"I know. And of course I have to leave, Alpha Hadley needs me for something."

I decided not to tell him what was going on. I knew Jax was probably a mess already and it wasn't my business to tell anyone. My phone buzzed again.

"Well, you've got plenty of time. I'll see if she wants to come to the party Friday."
