The End
This is a simple goodbye to the man I loved most, to my father, and to the world. It is time for me to end my story, I am not immortal, and I am not immune to life’s end. It is time for me to leave my sadness behind, to drop the burden of a long life.
I want to end on a happy not, with the smiles and love of the people who loved me most. I only have one regret: that my father couldn’t live to see me thrive, to see how much I’m worth.
I thank my father with my dying breath, for protecting me in the very end, for loving me even though I wasn’t his burden to bare.
My father was a good man and I hope I made him happy with every choice I made.
The light fades from her chocolate eyes and she slips into the darkness. The doctors rush around her, her hearts stops and she grows cold, Death grips her soul. “Let go” he whispers in a raspy voice, she clings to life but he pulls her loose, “Let go dear child, you’re done here.”
