Chapter 2

Third person:

Y/n felt her irritation rising as Zenitsu fearfully stared at her. 

"W-well after last night... shouldn't we get married??" Zenitsu asked. 

"WHAT?! IT WAS COLD! I HAD NO CHOICE!" The demon slayer shouted at her timid comrade as he whimpered.

"But Y/n chan... I'M SO WEAK! PLEASE! SOMEONE HAS TO MARRY ME BEFORE I DIE!" Zenitsu lunged towards Y/n with his arms reached out, but she quickly dodged. This led to him crying and chasing her around the room until he finally exhausted himself.

"I am not going to marry you! So get that stupid idea out of your head. We're just traveling together!" Y/n huffed, panting from the chase. She couldn't believe she was flustered by the boy last night and he was now this... sad mess. Zenitsu wailed at her response and flopped around on the floor.

"Never? Will you never marry me?"

"NEVER! Sheesh, what's your deal... I'm going outside. My crow may be waiting to give us a new mission." She stated, then briskly walked out. What was his problem? Some guys must be really desperate... Y/n didn't consider herself someone guys would be interested in, so the fact that Zenitsu asked for her hand in marriage shocked her. She got outside and saw her crow waiting. The crow informed her of the upcoming mission and she thanked him, then went inside to get ready to leave.

As she walked into the room, Y/n saw Zenitsu sulking in the corner. She paid no attention to him as she got ready to go. Y/n ate her breakfast, then left the room to go get changed. 

She truly loved the demon slayer uniform, and found her haori to be quite cute. It was a pale blue with a black star on the back. Gotta slay demons in style, am I right? After changing, she finally approached the blonde haired boy in the corner who was still being quite dramatic. 

"Come on Zenitsu, we have another mission. We need to leave." 

"But Y/n... you said you'll never marry me." He looked up at her with tears in his eyes. A wave of guilt hit Y/n. Was he actually upset about this? She thought he was just desperate for a wife. Sighing, she crouched to meet his eye level.

"If you get up and come help me defeat the next demon, maybe I'll change my mind." She really didn't want to do this, but Zenitsu was too depressed. But why would he think she possibly wanted to marry him? She had only recently started traveling with him and before that, the only time they had met was at Final Selection. They didn't know each other that well. However, Zenitsu's eyes lit up at her words. He sniffled and wiped his tears away.

"Y/n is going to marry me!" He jumped up, ready to go. Y/n groaned and got up as well.

"Come on, we need to get going."

The pair left the old woman's house and thanked her for her hospitality. They quickly realized as they travelled that they forgot to bring food. It was a hot day out, and hunger was slowing them down. Y/n noticed Zenitsu looked very fatigued so she suggested they take a break so he could rest. She spotted a young woman a bit ways off, maybe they could ask her if there was a village or someplace they could get food nearby. 

The young woman approached Y/n and Zenitsu on the side of the road.

"Oh my, are you alright? You look worn out." She said to Zenitsu. Zenitsu turned to look at her and suddenly grabbed her legs.

"You're so kind and beautiful! Thank you so much! Does this mean you like me? Could we get married?" Y/n's jaw dropped at his question towards the stranger. So he really was just desperate. Of course she wasn't special to her fellow demon slayer. Y/n felt a bit sad about this, but she quickly replaced that with anger. She yanked Zenitsu's collar in an annoyed attempt, but he was stronger than she expected.

"Agh! Zenitsu, let the poor girl go! She just asked if you were okay." But to no avail. He whined and hugged her tighter. Y/n groaned and pulled the blonde as he kept begging for her hand in marriage. The struggle continued as they all shouted at each other. Then, a boy appeared and yanked Zenitsu off the stranger and began yelling at him.
