Fight

We were thrown into the midst of the fight
Broken and bloody and ready to die
Looking for light was a waste of our time
giving away our position at night
We wandered the forests alone but together
It wasn't quite fun, but at least it was better
We were like children, afraid of the dark
Terrified of monsters that might leave their mark
Born to be beautiful, brave and unbreakable
To love in laughter, life, and in loss
Discovered instead to have been defected
Packaging damaged, problems undetected
Like toys in a toy store
That don't turn on after purchase
Pretty but there without purpose
Found after time that the light would find us
Like an embrace, held close and tight
The darkness was lovely but held many secrets
But friendship grew brightness and now we don't need it
