An hour into our flight our food had just arrived that we ordered half an hour ago. As Rachel went to the toilet, I was left alone sitting, reading my book, when I heard a lady cry to my right.
I looked over and she was holding a baby, I wondered if she was just stressed from mothering. She saw me looking and stood up with the child and walked over.
"I'm sorry if I've caused you any disturbance."
"Oh my gosh, no. You haven't, I was just wondering if I could help." I stood up.
"That would be wonderful, could you hold my child while I go and get some medication?" She handed me the baby. She was so beautiful, small and smooth.
"Of course, I can hold her for however long you need."
She smiled and rushed into the bathroom. I smiled at the baby and sat back down. In my bag I had a small neck pillow. I asked a man if he would help me get it out. "What a lovely thing to do."
"Before you sit down, I'll get up and walk around because my legs ache." I lifted myself to my feet and stretched my legs. As Rachel sat down, I walked slowly down the aisle patting the baby's back.
Then after walking around for a couple of minutes, I decided to go back.
But, the unimaginable happened. When you thought things couldn't get worse.
The plane dropped and I flew right to the ceiling, knocking my head on the board. I used my body as a shield for the baby and held tight even though I was scared for my life. I heard screaming, I smelt burning. Then the lights flickered on and off, and as the plane became steady, I fell to the ground onto my back. I screamed in pain, "My back!" ...........
