Prologue

Racing feet, heart, and mind. The screams of terror, ripping through the merciless dark. The crashes and fires echoing against each other. Dark tendrils of hair whipping behind their face. All clear of guilt and resignation. A proud and vicious grin slowly spreading across from ear to ear and not a spot of blood on the clean and white suit.

"Tch, it really is a crime."

Breathing heavily the hero leaned on their knees, just a fair few feet behind the villain.

"What is?!" they cried, "the lives you killed?! The torture you inflicted?!" They coughed up their own blood, barely on the verge of survival. Their life ,hanging on by a thin thread that was guided by the very person standing in front of them.

Stealing their tired nerves and burning fury, the hero managed to shakily stand and bellow, "WHAT IS THE CRIME THAT YOU'VE SUDDENLY GAINED A CONSCIOUS FROM!?"

Turning slowly, heels clicking and closing the space between them, the villain feigned a frown, tipping the hero's face up with a fingertip after forcefully pushing the hero to fall back onto their knees. The hero's megar attempt to stand, to show strength, wasted.

"I'm about to get blood on my shirt." The villain stared into their eyes with such force the hero instinctively jerked his head back, yet not daring to look away, the hatred evident in his fever filled eyes. The villain continued his words after giving a small smile, dropping his hand. "I would advise you to keep your mouth shut before someone loses the little blood they have left."

With that sentence the hero steeled up his pride once again and spit a mouthful of blood in the villains face. Blood splattering over the crisp, clean, white suit. The villain just sighed, chuckling all the same while wrapping a piece of cloth around their knuckles, standing up and looking away.

Before the hero knew what was happening, there was a loud thwack as bone met bone; having barely enough time to cough out more blood before the same action was repeated again and again.

"CRIME? YOU ASK WHAT CRIME?!" Another loud punch echoed inside the walls, as the villain's words resonated within each wall of stone. "YOU HEROS ARE NOTHING. YOU CLAIM TO BE ALL ANGELIC AND INNOCENT BUT YOU NEVER ONCE HAVE EXPERIENCED WHAT REAL TRUTH THIS SO-CALLED GOLDEN WORLD HOLDS."

The villain continued to throw punches until the hero's head hit the floor, on the edge of unconsciousness. The last thing the hero remembered was a shadow kneeling down by him and a voice whispering in his ear, as the hero's blood flowed around them both like sand. "Your kind never once thought to save me."

The voice paused for a second before continuing, sounding more like the strength of steel compared to the heartbreak edged one from before. "I will take revenge on those who paid me with lies, grief, and death when I was at my worst. An Eye for an Eye. Hand for a Hand. That's fair...Don't you think?"
