"They saw you! They totally saw you!" Ranmaru franticly said while swimming in circles. Off to the side Mitsuhide chuckled.

"Ok well, you can't prove that they saw me." y/n responded, one of her hands reached up to play with her hair.

"Why else would they dock at the island! Mitsuhide! Back me up."

Mitsuhide grinned as both merfolk turned to him. "While I may just be a big meanie," cue Ranmaru sticking his tongue out, "Ranmaru is correct. You were undoubtedly seen by those pirates, or at least a part of you." He nodded towards her tail, silver hair bobbing around his pale face.

"Then I'll make sure they don't see me again!" She declared in response to his hard to argue logic.

"Look Mitsuhide! You upset y/n!" Ranmaru cried, seeing the pout on his friend's lips.

"Mitsuhide apologize." A new voice joined the trio, causing Mitsuhide to twitch his whiskers. The sooth voice belonged to Hideyoshi. The sun that filtered down from the surface glittered off his green tail, the stripes of light and dark even allowing him to camouflage there, His scale pattern as well as the spiny dorsal fin down his back would make it clear to the well-informed observer that he was a green sunfish merman. Sticking with the green, Hideyoshi had tied his light brown hair up with a surprisingly strong piece of seaweed.

"Why Hideyoshi, I haven't done anything wrong." Mitsuhide voice was offended but his grin revealed his teasing nature.

"Uh guys?" Once the mermen had turned back to acing her y/n continued, "maybe we should go and tell everyone else about the pirates."

"Pirates!? What pirates!?" Poor Hideyoshi.

After a brief explanation Hideyoshi was rushing his fellow merfolk to the undersea cave system which the pod shared.

The news was met by an unhappy manta ray, a fired up tiger shark, a confused beta fish, and a very nonchalant great white.

"Is that all?" Nobunaga looked between his two loyal vassals, while he lounged on his stone throne, his hair floated gracefully with his movements, never a strand out of place. It seemed that even the ocean itself was afraid of disobeying the shark.

Hideyoshi nodded but Mitsuhide continued, "Actually my Lord, y/n was at the surface before the ship pulled into the cove. I doubt pirates would make such a decision on rumor alone."

In a rush that pushed the water around, Hideyoshi turned to his whiskered counterpart ready to berate him for not saying so sooner, but the sunfish was quickly interrupted by his superior.

"Y/n is this true?" Nobunaga's cold voice never failed to send uncomfortable shivers down her striped tail. Sheepishly the mermaid nodded, shame blossoming in her chest.

"We'll wait them out then. They'll leave in a few days, once the realize that they'll see no more of us." Agreement came from the other mermen in the form of nods and grunts, all of the Oda placed the utmost faith in their leader, "I have little praise for pirates, but there is a necessary amount of sanity to stay alive on the high seas."

Was that aimed at me? Y/n thought, I feel like that was aimed at me.

"Ranmaru ." Once again Nobunaga's voice cut through the cave.

"Yes?" Ranmaru stood to attention, straight backed and focused.

"Deliver a message to the Uesugi-Takeda. If you show yourself to these pirates I will personally make sure that you never have that ability again." In a pink blur Ranmaru swam out of the cave system as Nobunaga dismissed the council.
