Chapter 3 - First day

That night, Y/N barely managed to get any sleep. So many thoughts were racing through their head and they didn't even have a chance to distract themself with anything since they didn't even have their bag with them anymore. They laid in bed for what felt like at least 2 hours until they heard a knock on the door. 'Finally, something new...' they thought as they got up and walked over to the door. Just as they were about to open it, a note slid from under the door before their feet. Groaning, they bent down and picked it up, reading it as they stood back up.

The note said 'It is 5 a.m, we hope you are awake. The leader wishes to talk with you. Do not forget your mask and gloves.'

Y/N sighed and crumbled the note up, throwing it on their desk. "Sure..." It didn't take them long to pick out an outfit, it actually looked a lot like Overhaul's usual outfit, just without the tie and obnoxious jacket and again, the top few buttons unbuttoned. They got changed and brushed through their hair with their fingers. Figuring that they probably look good enough, they opened the door, being met with a masked person again. "Are... you the same guy as yesterday?"

"Irrelevant. Please, follow me." The person turned and started walking, Y/N grudgingly followed. As they walked through the halls, Y/N noticed a door that stood out to them. Almost none of the doors were labeled in any way, but that one had a sign that simply had 'Eri' engraved on it. Come to think of it, their door had a sign the day before too, but this morning the sign wasn't there. They simply brushed it off and walked with the person to Overhaul's reception room. Once again, they knocked on the door and after another 'come in', they opened it for Y/N.

They walked in and the door shut again. "Good morning, Overhaul." He turned and looked them up and down. "What's that, trying to steal my outfit? Sit down." Y/N smiled slightly and sat down, crossing their legs. "You know I could never. I'm still missing the tie. Why did you order me to come so early in the morning?"

"Getting straight to the point, aren't we? I thought of a job for you." After sitting down, he started copying Y/N position, crossing his legs as well. "You see, my... daughter, you've met her, I can't always be around her and I feel like she needs a caregiver, someone who's there for her on demand. Today, we're gonna see how well you two can get along. Last night, she didn't get a lot of sleep cause she can be a bit of a brat sometimes and just refuses to sleep, and I've been thinking that, to see how well you can get along with her, you can try to convince her to get her to get some sleep. Sounds easy enough, right?"

"...right." Y/N cleared their throat. They were never good with children, it's not that they didn't like them, it's just that they absolutely hated children.

"Perfect. Because if you don't succeed at this simple task, you really don't have any use to us and we'd have to kill you."

That made Y/N start choking on air. "So wait- hold on- if I don't get your daughter to fall asleep, you'll kill me off?!" They started lightly hitting their chest, hoping it'd help them slightly.

"That's what I said. Now come on. I'll personally walk you to her room." Still bewildered by the thought of getting killed over such a small thing, Y/N stood up and walked to the door with him. They opened the door and stepped outside, holding it open for him.

Even though, they couldn't see his face, Y/N knew a smirk spread on it. For what anyway? For holding the door open for him? For doing the bare minimum? Guess he didn't have any actual high expectations for them.

They simply rolled their eyes and Overhaul walked ahead, Y/N following close behind. "Are there any more things I need to know about her first?" Keeping his eyes strictly ahead, he answered, "Do not ask her about her quirk or the rest of her family. And remember that we can see every little thing you do. To help you gain her trust, you are allowed to take off your mask since you don't have the disease."
