Kamini stood stunned for a moment when the brass vase hit the floor, afraid it would wake Sahira up. But Sahira seemed deep and peaceful in her sleep. "How could you sleep at ease knowing that you're ruining two people's lives."
The night air felt cold against her skin as she jumped outside the palace wall. Her rags weren't keep her as warm as she had hoped but she loved the chill. It got her adrenaline pumping. She walked across the quiet city, she hastened the steps because she knew it was gonna be daylight in a few hours and she wanted as much as she could with the king. Her king.
As she walked up the steep slope of the mountain, she heard a faint russle of leaves behind her. She immediately placed her hand on her sword, closed her eyes to concentrate on the direction of the sound. She heard it again had was about to yell to as who was there when she felt a hand grab her by waist and pull her into the trees. A large hand held her mouth shut. She struggled for a couple of seconds before she realized the familiar built of the king.
Kamini and the king kept as still and quiet as they could as they heard multiple footsteps around them. She heard them come closer when someone yelled, "Are you sure they said this mountain?". "Shhhh I'm positive, Rakh had informed us that the princess had left the palace she should have reached the mountain by now."
"Keep searching they should be around here" the man who looked like the camander yelled. "No Sugha, if we can't find them, they must probably know we are here. We won't be able to find them now. Command your men to return." Said a voice from a frail little man. The men did not look happy with the decision but they obliged and proceeded down the mountain.
Kamini had not realised how close the king and her were standing until she felt the coldness of his sweat on her back. They stayed still for a few more moments and then sighed.
"Who are they?" Kamini asked and she slowly freed her self from his grasp. "The swordsmen of Jailok, the frail man, that's Sukh. He and his brother Rakh are like assets to the King of Jailok. They carry out the most stealthy missions with such ease, most Kingdoms won't even know what hit them until the damage is done.
"Are we under attack?"
"When are we not under attack?" The king smirked.
"But that's not what I'm here for. What happened to you during the court session today? Did Sahira say something that upset you?"
Kamini just stared up at him, she tried controlling her tears as Sahira's hurtful words played in her mind. She couldn't hold herself back and she threw her arms around him. The king was taken aback, but he embraced her a few moments later.
"She will hurt you, I know she will and I don't know what I could do to save you from that. You and your Kingdom don't deserve to suffer because of me. Please end this alliance, Say something, do something. If you reject us, Sahira cannot marry you."
"I can't turn down your father's offer. He is a reputed king and it would only damage his reputation if I send back the offer"
"I know..." She said through her sobs.
"Although, I could talk to your father to give me your hand unto marriage and we both can get what we want." He said and he lifted her face up. She stared at him in awe.
"What we both want? You want us too?"
"I may have spent just a few hours with you but I know what a wonderful queen you would make just like my mother and grandmother and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't insanely attracted to you both emotionally and physically. And if I can't pull my wife's leg who else is gonna?" He said as he brushed her hair behind her ear.
Kamini's heart was pounding a million miles an hour but she knew this couldn't happen.
"Sounds like fairy tale! But we can't do that. Everyone knows you are spoken for Sahira, if we get married, she could never find a man again."
"Then we gotta get Sahira to reject me!"
"How in the world am I gonna do that when her ego is involved?"
"There are two ways to get a man or woman to bend when their ego is at line, either show them the only other option will hurt their ego more or give them something so good they can't refuse."
"Hmmm......"
"Did you know you look this beautiful when you think?"
"Shut up.... " She said as she playfully nudged his hand. Though this seemed too good to be true somehow her heart knew this was always meant to happen.
"Anyway let's get back down, it's almost dawn" he said as he took her hand into his.
