"Isabella...My dear, Isabella."

They were dancing, but there was no ballroom music--only distant sounds of ignited torches and the shouting of angry men, slowly closing in on them the way wolves approach their preys.

"They're trying to burn us down, Isabella."

A graceful twirl, followed by another. She did not answer, and yet, he believed that she was listening. "We shall die together, shan't we?" The corners of the male's lips turned upwards, forming a smile. Yet, his eyes remained cold. Dull, and even wearied.

"You're silent, my love," He glanced down at the woman as he held her tight, his hands cold when he caressed her cheek. "you did want to end this, did you not?"

Moonlight spilled over the hairless corpse of the woman he loved, her milky, lifeless eyes reflecting his. The candles flickered, impatient but gentle--trying to warn their master of his inevitable ending.
