I walked Josh into his house and met his dad who was by then home. “Look Mell was it. It is getting late, don’t you think you should stay over.” He said, “No sir if it is a problem I can drive home.” I answered back, “Mell, please it is dangerous this time of night.” Josh demanded. I gave in and called my dad. He said that it was a good idea for me to stay. After I got off the phone, Josh’s dad gave me a shirt and shorts to sleep in. I changed in the bathroom and walked to Josh’s room. There were so many posters of bands and tickets from concerts sprawled on the walls of the room. I just stood there taking in everything. I turned around to see Josh walking out of his bathroom slipping a shirt on. I could feel the heat overcome my face. Josh knew too. His mom called us in for dinner and introduced herself to me. We had pizza from a local place and then we headed back to Josh’s room. I was sitting in a beanbag chair when I looked over and noticed that Josh was texting someone. “Oh, who is the lucky guy,” I said picking at Josh. “No one,” Josh said quickly. “Aw ok, whatever.” It was late at that time so we both headed to bed.
Josh woke me up at around ten and we ate breakfast and then got ready to leave. “Do you want to maybe hang out later at the mall or something?” I asked, “ “Sure that sounds great! Maybe at around twelve.” Josh answered, “Okay see you soon!” It took me about an hour and a half to get home. I ran in showered and got changed before leaving once again to head to the mall. I made it to the mall with ten minutes to spare. Josh was sitting in the food court and I made my way over to him and we started to walk around. We walked up to a Box Lunch and Josh grabbed my arm and rushed in. He kept running around like a little puppy. He found a couple of buttons and bought them. They were from some anime he had watched. He stuck them on his backpack and we headed to a small restaurant in the mall. We ate a little and I was contemplating telling Josh about be being bisexual. Then it just came out.
“Josh, can I tell you something personal?” I stuttered “Yeah, what is it?” He answered. “You can’t tell anyone okay,” I replied. Josh nodded his head in agreement. “I’m...I’m bi. I like guys and girls.” I said meekly. Josh laughed. I became quite embarrassed thinking he was going to make fun of me. “Okay. That makes so much sense. I figured something was happening when I learned that those guys were back on the soccer team. It’s okay I’m not going to tell anyone.” He hesitated. “I know how it feels to get outed. If you ever want to talk to me about anything I am glad to listen.” With smiles on our faces, we walked out of the mall and separated to get to our cars. I was happy. Josh was happy.
