Xiao Zhan's POV
When dinner rolled around, Yibo called me into the kitchen, "what's all this?"
Sean and Yibo had food laid out on fancy plates setting a complete with a full array of formal dining utensils, "you need to learn proper table manners." Yibo looked up at me with a sly smirk.
"Excuse me! I know how to eat, thank you very much!" Sean shook his head with a small smile tugging on his lips, "not like this, rich people have turned eating into a competitive sport." I nodded at Sean's words while taking a seat at the counter and stared at everything as they explained to me what I needed to do.
"Do I really need to use four forks?" Sean chuckled while Yibo glared at him before responding, "the silverware is easy, you simply work from the outside in."
"Easy, would be having one fork." Yibo glared at me, but Sean hid a laugh behind his hand, "place your napkin in your lap and keep your elbows off the table." I pouted at Yibo's words.
"Really, I know how to have table manners." He sighed before responding to me, "fine, then take a sip of your water." I picked my glass up and the ice rattles as I lifted it to my lips when I placed it back down, it clattered against the table.
"WRONG! Hear how noisy you're being?" Sean leaned amused against the counter while Yibo kept staring at me, and I ruffled a frustrated hand through my messy hair.
"What? I have to be eating silently like the dead?"
"I told you it was complicated~" I pouted at Sean's singing words.
Yibo stood at my side and wrapped my hand around the glass, "move like this, to prevent the ice from rattling." He repositioned my hand to muffle the sound, then moved it smoothly to my lips, his hand lingered on my wrist as he guided my hand back down.
"Steady your hand on the table with your fingers before settling it down, like this." He held my hand in his own, positioning me he gave instructions.
"Do you think you can do that?" All I was able to focus on was his hand touching mine! "Uhm . . . I think so . . . ?"
"If it's too stressful, you can always just ask for a drink without ice," Sean said, but I groaned, this was too much to remember.
"You'll also need to make polite conversations, pretend I'm seated next to you at dinner and you don't know me, how would you start a conversation?" This felt so silly, but I'll take this seriously.
"Lovely weather we're having this evening."
"Good." I smiled at Yibo.
"Better pray that it doesn't storm, or you'll be all out of the things to talk about," Sean said, making me turn my head.
"Well then . . . What do you suggest?"
"Just do what I do: don't talk to anyone at all," Sean smirked while Yibo hit the back of his head.
"Tsk, he's trying to make a good impression, not become a social pariah." Sean stuck his tongue out before answering, "eh, being a social pariah has its uses, it keeps me from getting invited to more boring parties."
Yibo sighed, "they still invite you, you just blow them off, Karen doesn't seem like she'd let her sons skip out on their responsibilities." Yibo looked at me before continuing, "Sean's never been the type to care about how much trouble he makes for other people."
Sean glared at Yibo, "at least I don't make myself their puppet." And he stormed out of the room.
"Sean!"
