Looking through the shop I don't see one that would fit my definition of an elegant dress, they were all too shiny and flashy, just not my type. Mona too had a visible frown on her face, mirroring my expression, after going through the collection.

We just wanted a decent yet elegant dress, was it that hard to get?

Today me and Mona both took a break from work to go for dress shopping and after walking through the whole mall we still haven't found our 'party attire' as Mona likes calling it.

Strolling around, a wooden board with black elegant carpentry catches my line of sight; something about that shop told me it would be way better than any luxurious shops we have been to yet. It stated in bold letters 'Golden thread' and due to it being the last shop we haven't been in we move towards its direction.

Entering the shop, it seems more cosy and vacant than any other we had been to. An elder lady with the liveliest personality I had ever come across, helped us find the dress we had been trying to find the whole evening.

Fortunately after fifteen or so minutes we both had found the most graceful yet elegant gowns ever. Mine was a light pint gown with no sleeves and it had a beautiful floral pattern flowing down to the end. It had a slight deep neck exposing some of my skin between the breast and on the top it had white lace gracefully making a pattern slightly matching the design at the end. The top material clung to my body as though my second skin.

Mona on the other hand had a beautiful purple coloured gown with white flowers embroidered on her whole waist that slowly went down just to her knee area and then the purple colour alone flowed down till her feet.

After modelling in the dress for a few minutes and taking cute pictures we take them off to read the price tags. Taking a look at the price makes my whole face fall from a cheery one to a sulking one. Our budget was very very less and these dress cost us our whole weeks' pay and we couldn't have that if we wanted to keep our tummies filled.

Looking at our dejected faces the cheery women whose name we learned was Mary, comes up to us probably wondering why our moods switched so fast and after an explanation for our behavior the most unexpected thing happens. She starts laughing.

'You kids are the cutest people I have ever known in my life. Didn't you all read the signs above the rack you picked the dresses from? These dresses are on sale of seventy five present to the hundredth person who enters the store in the week. It's the third day and we had already had 99 customers in here like the count above the front door says' we both gaze up at where her fingers point and we realize that it says hundred. Confused I say 'but how could that be possible? We both entered and you said ninety nine people entered before us so..?' I trail off. She catches up to my train off thoughts and hurriedly explains 'child you both entered together hence why it states a hundred and not hundred and one.'

After paying the amount for the dresses we both happily trudge out of the shop thanking the women dearly again and again.

Staring at the mirror barely does anything to stop my uneasiness about the night, something seems off, like something is going to happen. Shrugging it off as if it's some paranoia I dab on my makeup one last time then head to the living room with is basically right in front of my room but a little bit bigger then it.

'O MY LORD!!! YOU LOOK STUNNING! OMG OMG OMG! Tonight's going to be so fun 'Mona squeals. After exchanging a few words about the marvellous dresses we make our way outside waiting for a limo to pick us like they instructed us to as a late announcement.

The slick black limo comes in our block fitting as many people as possible in the car. We see a lot of families crying over their children going for the what we humans call 'taking', it was a quite sad and emotional sight but I was intent on having fun for once in my life so I ignored every person and kept on talking to Mona to get rid of the distress of the situation.

The castle was huge, magnificent, and glorious, any word that came with meaning luxurious was fit for it. The wolves gathered us around and started stating the rules for while attending the ball. Honestly they were all kind of obvious and normal rules that have been afflicted upon us even in daily life.

1. Don't look in the eyes of a wolf that holds power.

2. Don't engulf with anyone who isn't your mate.

There goes our plan of enjoying our time with random dudes.

3. Enjoy yourself but any inconvenience felt by the werewolves from you and you go straight to the dungeons for punishment.

4. Behave and keep your temper in check always.

5. When your mate finds you and IF they accept you, you're to fully submit to them and not create problems for them.

6. If anyone tries escaping, leaving before midnight or cause any inconvenience to anyone will go through severe punishments.

And with that we enter through the majestic gates.

A few hours have passed and many mates have been accepted and rejected leaving some girls ecstatic behind them and some an emotional mess. No idea why they would cry on getting to live a free life instead of being trapped in rooms to be sex slaves for dogs.

Me and Mona have been dancing on the dance stage from a while with two other boys who befriended us after making sure no one was their mate. I for one don't think I'll be 'fated' as they said to a werewolf like at all, but there's been a dreading feeling in the pit of my stomach since the day started.

Suddenly everyone is wiped off the stage and told to return to their seats for the Alpha Kings arrival. I have heard a lot about this king since I have entered the castle by the extremely cute gay couple, Jay and Jeffry, like how it's said that he has been fated without a mate for being so merciless and cruel to everyone whether their fault or not.

He has been known to be the most fearless and heartless man to ever walk on earth. He treats lives as though toys, plays with them until he's bored and then destroys them. Along with that he's been known to be 'The extremely hot and sexy guy in the fucking world' Jeffry's words not mine.

My train of thoughts comes to an halt when the door at the opposite side of the hall opens to reveal a hot guy walk in who is announced to be the beta of the king, if noticed deeply, under his professional look, he looked frantic as though trying to figure something by searching through the crowd.

A new announcement for the arrival of the king takes place and then it's like everything goes in slow motion.

'THE KING OF ALL THE ALPHAS ' KING XADEN '

An extremely huge guy with a Greek God of a body walks in. His huge, ripe muscles flexed themselves in the fitted yet so elegant, black suit making him look way sexier than it should. His huge (somehow) powerful steps screamed dominance and power. His aura screamed authority and his perfectly chiseled face did nothing to break my trance as I continued ogling over every step he took. What entranced me the most was, the color of his eyes. They were the most beautiful shade of grey eyes I had ever seen, they were somehow so captivating even though I hadn't taken a full look as they had to yet meet mine.

His face looked confused for a little bit while he continued to gaze through the crowd as if looking for someone in particular. A realization dawns upon me that he must be looking for his mate and even though I have only seen him and not actually met him it makes me sad.

Just before I look away from the perfectly built man his eyes land on me, catching us both in a haze. Those eyes captivate mine for what seems like hours but is only seconds until he growls out the word I has wished would never be said to me. The words that I had dreaded my whole life.

'MATE'
