this is an alternate version of my 2jin one shot.
While Yerim was being left out in all of her friends' shenanigans, she was actually dealing with a problem of her own.
3 weeks ago she was assigned a lab partner in her Microbiology class. Yerim never liked group projects because she doesn't like getting dragged down by other's incompetence. She was a bit of an overachiever and she has big dreams of becoming a doctor. Even though Yerim is one of the most friendliest person out there, if anyone that gets in the way of her achieving her goal, that person will be an enemy in her eyes. Well, that is exactly what happened to her. Much to her objection, she was paired with a freshman(who was somehow in a sophomore class) to work on a project worth 25% of their final mark.
But why was this poor girl hated by our sunshine Yerim? Well, because let's just say she was a competition for her. This freshman girl was extremely intelligent, highly disciplined, and has a charismatic personality that she was already the professor's favourite. You would think that Yerim would hate her for being a useless partner, but on the contrary, she was the best partner anyone could ever ask for. Always quick to respond, always has great input and ideas, and very collaborative. What Yerim didn't like the most was that she was excelling at a faster rate at everything over her and she wasn't used to that. She was always the best, the most disciplined, the teacher's favourite, but now she was just second. Second to her.
She tries to avoid this girl as much as she can but it just seemed impossible given that they almost had all classes together. Unlucky for her as well, the girl always sat beside her in class. The girl seemed attached to Yerim and she couldn't figure out why. She isn't the most welcoming to her.
It was almost halfway through the semester and Yerim notices that the girl still walks alone in the hallways in between classes, or even eat alone during lunch. She couldn't help but feel bad for her, but she thought that it wasn't really any of her business. Also she still had this inner one-sided competition going on with the poor unsuspecting girl that her pride got ahead of her. Lately though, Yerim has been walking alone in the hallways after lunch since Heejin has been joining Jiwoo and Jungeun in their class, so she's been feeling left out and lonely. Then one fine Friday afternoon, that loneliness was interrupted by the last person she wanted it to.
"Yerim-ssi!!" a small shrill voice coming from behind Yerim
"..." Yerim kept walking
"YERIM-SSI!!!!" the voice now yelling making heads turn to their direction. Yerim turns around in embarrassment to catches the girl behind her putting her right hand on her mouth to silence her.
"dfuu fshu ahhsnab hu chsu chslashs" Yerim removed her hand, making a disgusted face and immediately wiping her palm on the other girl's shirt
"hey!"
"what? you spat all over my hand trying to say whatever it is you were saying" the girl rolled her eyes at what Yerim said
"what i was trying to say was, do you want to walk to class together"
"no thanks" Yerim quickly replied and turned her back at the girl and walked away
"hey hey hey wait we're literally going to the same place let's just go together" the girl now trying to keep up with Yerim, who is seemingly speed walking hoping the other would leave her alone. Unfortunately, the girl was relentless.
"YAH! just walk with me" the girl jumped in front of Yerim, legs spread, arms are up, looking like a starfish. The sight made Yerim laugh a little until she stopped herself. She wasn't about to get caught slipping. "yaaaahh just walk with me plsssss~~~~" the girl now whining and pouting at Yerim.
"okay okay F I N E just stop whining and let's go" Yerim finally caved it. This made the other ecstatic.
"thanksss hehehe" the girl's smile were ear to ear.
"mhmm"
Yerim now has company again, but at what cost?
