People say we shouldn’t be together
We're too young to know about forever
But I say they don’t know
what they talk talk talkin’ about
“Niall calm down. It’s not that big of a deal.” Liam reassured
Niall turned to glare at Liam
“Not a big deal, Liam? Not a big deal?! It’s a HUGE deal!” Niall protested
Liam shook his head, “But it doesn’t mean anything Ni, and you know that.”
Liam reached out to grab Niall’s hand but Niall retracted.
“I don’t know anything anymore Liam. How am I supposed to know when you never tell me! You could have told me you were going out with . . . with her. But no, like always, you keep me in the dark. I give up.” Niall threw his hands up in surrender and shook his head, “I just give up.” And with that Niall turned around and left.
Liam folded his arms over his chest and gripped his biceps. He looked to the carpeted hotel floor hoping that maybe, just maybe, it would tell him what to do. But it didn’t. It just sat contently, emitting a cozy warmth between Liam's bare toes.
Liam curled his toes, digging them into the carpet as a stray tear slipped past his eyelashes. He hid his face in his hands and clawed at his buzz cut head willing his headache to just leave him alone so he could think. But, just like the carpet, it didn’t. It just added to the reality of the situation.
Liam cried out and hit the wall just beside him.
Breathing heavily, he heard a knock on the door. He chose to ignore it but the person kept pestering him with knocks.
Eventually Liam realized they weren’t going to leave so he moved to open the door. He sighed as the person behind it stepped into the room.
He rubbed his face, “Hi, Dani.”
“Liam, what’s wrong with Niall? I went to go ask him if he wanted anything while I was out and he said no. No Liam! No! Not even food! What happened?” Dani asked franticly, worry coursing through her tone.
“I fucked up, that’s what happened.” Liam answered, closing the door, “I didn’t tell him we were going out and he had to find out through twitter and I just fucked up. Again. Like always.”
Liam's tears flowed freely now.
Dani pulled Liam into her arms and rubbed his back soothingly, “It’s going to be fine babe.”
Liam pulled back, “That’s the thing Danielle! It’s not going to be fine! No one approves of any of this except the boys, you, Perrie and Eleanor! Simon doesn’t want it to go public, that’s why you are here! And even if he did we would lose so many fans! The public would hate us! Parents would hate us! Everyone would be against it! And for once in my life I have no fucking idea how the hell I am going to fix it!”
The room was quiet. The only noise coming from Liam’s irregular breathing.
“Well,” Dani started, “Liam, sometimes things can’t be fixed, sometimes things need to be reassured that they aren’t totally broken, and sometimes, things have to be shattered to become whole.”
Liam blinked and stared for a moment before raising an eyebrow.
“Zayn come up with that?”
“Surprisingly no,” Dani smiled smugly, “Thought that one up all by myself.”
