My eyes were locked on his. For a second I forgot where we were and that my older, very protective brother was there.

"Oh hey Summer, i just met our next door neighbor -"

"Cameron" The dark haired boy finished Jack's sentence. "I heard that you will be living here on your own so hopefully we can hang out and if you want I can introduce you to some of my friends"

"O-Oh Yea ha ha sounds g-good" I stuttered. Why was I stuttering, i haven't had a stutter since I was three. I don't know what it was about Cameron that made me nervous. I notice that he was wearing black jeans and a white t shirt that clung to his visibly apparent muscular torso. His hair was perfectly styled and that smile... That smile could light up any room. Wait... This is weird. I don't even know this kid. Summer calm down calm down. Oh shit -

"Ummm.. summer? Staring at anything interesting?" Cameron said with a smirk.

I blushed and noticed that during my embarrassing day dream, Jack must have gone inside.

"Uh ha ha sorry... " i tried to come up with words, any, that wouldn't make me seem like more of an idiot.

"You're gorgeous by the way... I definitely want to see you more often" He said confidentially.

I blushed and I opened my mouth to speak when it happened.

I felt a strong arm tap me on the shoulder and forcefully turn me around. My eyes grew wide and I quickly froze trying to scream.

Flashback

The sun was hot and making the dark pavement glisten. I was so happy that I got a new bike for my 6th birthday that I ran down the driveway before my parents could follow me. I just wanted to test it out. Nothing bad ever happens in my neighborhood and I didn't think that being away from my parents for 2 minutes would be so dangerous. Boy, was I wrong.

A black van came reeling around the corner of the street and seemed like it was gonna pull up next to me, so instinctively I hopped on my bike and pedaled as fast as I could.

I realized at that moment, that my new bike didn't have training wheels on it and my bike swerved to the side of the road and I skidded across the street. Fear struck my face as my nightmares became a reality. A man whose face was covered came and his strong arms pulled me up from the street and threw me into the van. Nothing was left of me besides the bike with its wheels still turning as it was stuck in the bush.

I looked out the tinted window to see my parents rush down the driveway only to find that I wasn't there. I watched as my dad ran to my bike and turned around to see the black van speed away. My mom's face was held in a frown as she fell to the pavement crying. I wasn't sure if that would be the last time I saw them... thank god it wasn't.

Present Day

This couldn't be happening again. I moved all the way across the country. I... I did the only thing that I knew I could do.... scream. My eyes clenched closed as I screamed. My throat started to burn. I then realized that my attacker no longer held a grip on me. I opened my eyes as tears pooled them. Cameron stood across from me. His face held many different expressions: confusion, worry, and concern. I looked behind me to see not an attacker but friendly old man... probably one of my neighbors. He slowly backed away saying "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you... I just wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood."

Jack came rushing out of the house and saw what had happened. He looked at me, concerned filled his eyes. He came up to me and pulled me into a hug. I let it all out, memories flooding my brain. Jack whispered "shh it's okay."

I realized how weird we seemed at this moment. This girl and her brother in a strong embrace after she completely freaked out when a friendly old man tried to say hi. Well, this try-not-to-act-like-an-idiot thing wasn't going to well.

"Are you okay? What just happened?" Cameron said, clearly confused. At this point the old man disappeared into his house.

"Nothing. It's just-" Jack tried to explain

"Haha nothing, I just get scared easily haha.." I tried to play it off

"Well... anyway, if you are still up for it, I'm meeting some of my friends at this club later tonight if you want to join?" Cameron seemed so sweet.

"Of course" I smiled

We parted ways leaving me to deal with my horrifying memories alone.
