Chapter One: Some Idiots Even Call Me Mermaid.A R I E L
THE CONTENTS OF THE CEREAL bowl danced around my spoon as I turned it with no actual intentions of eating it anymore. A strand of my honey brown hair fell against my face making me blow it backwards while I adjusted my glasses for the hundredth time.
Today was the first day of school after the summer break.
Yes, I was depressed about it.
I sighed loudly again as I turned the milky substance. I was so not ready for that hell hole. My plan had actually worked for two years now. It was my final senior year but yet the fact that I was the NERD had not worn off yet.
You know, I had never been that at high school. I was actually one of the most popular but that was until things took a cruel turn. I can't really say for now.
I took another look at my outfit— a simple ash hoodie with jeans and my Nike kicks. I sighed again. What am I wearing? I asked myself before rubbing my nose a little.
If you looked at me and asked me, what do you love most about yourself? I would tell you my eyes.
My eyes were fucking emerald. I could sit in front of the mirror and stare at them because of how pretty they were. My eyelashes were full and long giving my eyes full protection as they also beautified my face.
That was why I loved my eyes. Apart from that, I was a big slob. I hated the rest of me because of how the school had made me feel. I was called a sick patient, a weirdo and some idiots also called me a mermaid due to my name.
Out of everyone in the school chain, there was one person that could drive me to hell and that was D—
"Ariel." My mum said with her hands on my shoulders jolting me out my thoughts. "You haven't finished your breakfast. Again."
I sighed and pushed the bowl away from me. "I'm not hungry mum. I'm sorry." My voice came out small and cute with puppy eyes included.
"Fine."
Yes!
"But I packed your lunch and you must finish that young lady."
No.
I nodded anyway so I could make her happy. I'd kill to see that smile. My dad was a fallen soldier. We finally adjusted but not fully. It still hurt till this day.
