The lock jiggled, the little knob thing turning. I dove into the closet, sliding the door to cover me. The door burst open, a few seconds later two figures pushed together came into view through the slots in the door. I cringed as the sluts shirt was ripped off. The second his belt was being unfastened I pulled out my phone.
It rang three times before he picked up.
"What?"
"You know, if you want to keep me in your closet, you really shouldn't bring girls in. It could mentally scar me." He sighed
"Fine." The line clicked dead. A quiet conversation went on across the room. The brunette put her shirt back on and fluffed her hair in the mirror. He locked the door behind her.
The closet door opened. I looked up at a shirtless Kaleb.
"You know what what Bug? Your cock-blocking is seriously hurting my rep."
"Well if you want a rep don't keep a fourteen-year-old in the closet." He smirked.
"I'm so glad you-" I slapped his face.
"Kaleb Alexander Breckinridge! I swear! You have made that joke for the past four years! One day it will bite you in the ass!" I whisper-yelled. Don't need any blabber mouths hearing a teen girl in a playboy's dorm room. Kabe rolled his eyes.
"Whatever." I glared at him, then broke the stare.
"When is Aaron getting back?" I stared at my feet. Kabe stared at the wall.
"Another couple of hours. He's out with his fiancé."
"Oh. Ok." I plopped down on Aaron's bed and rolled onto my back. Kabe followed suit, but on his bed. We sat there, in the comfortable silence, for a few minutes. I heard Kabe stir, I looked and saw he sat up.
"Hey Bug, you know, my graduation is coming up." I looked back to the cracking ceiling.
"Don't remind me."
"It's just that, what are we gonna do?" I internally was crying, but I won't show it.
"We already know. You're gonna go get a job while I sing for money on the streets. Once you've landed on your feet and have a house you'll come find me and we'll go against the world together. Like it was after Dad." We were silent for a good minute or so. Mentioning Dad almost moved us off the topic.
"No. I'm not doing that again. You out on the streets kept me up at night. And I never landed on my feet, I snapped and put us both in a homeless shelter." We both laughed, remembering how crazy I made him. Kabe stared at me, I shifted under his gaze.
"What?" I looked him in the eye.
"Nothing, it's just that, if my kid sister weren't a genius, right now you'd be an idiot." I laughed, hiding how aware I was. I graduated high school at age 7, after that I decided I wouldn't go to college until I was the usual age. That, and after I graduated our Dad left us, leaving us with nothing but debt.
We both lied back down on the two beds. Kabe pulled up the covers and reached towards the lamp.
"Night Bug."
"Night," I smiled back. The light turned off and Kabe fell to his pillow. I looked around the empty dorm room, seeing right through the darkness. I looked at the bed I was on and at the closet I hide in a lot and the desks across the room. I yawned and fell back onto Aaron's bed. I quickly changed my mind and slipped in next to Kabe. I pulled the covers over me and snuggled into him.
I felt his arms wrap around me and pull me closer. I buried my head in his bare chest.
"Love you Bug," he whispered.
"Love you too."

"Morning Snuggle-Bug!" A voice rang in my ear.
"Fuck you," I murmured back.
"Aww, someone's being a cwanky-wanky-pants!"
"Yeah, and normally it's you. But you've just been giddy ever since finally got the balls to propose to your boyfriend." I sat up and stared at Aaron. A smile was plastered on his face, and has been for the past week. "Does this thing come off?" I asked, pulling at the edge of his lips. He laughed and pushed my hands away.
"Not yet. The glue needs to melt from the warmth of my heart." We laughed at his overly-dramatic portrayal of the sentence. I sobered up and looked at the bed.
"Where's Kaleb? I thought he didn't have classes today."
"He's working. He grabbed some extra shifts for reasons I don't know. It's gonna keep him busy for most of the time he's not in class." I frowned. Why does he think a few extra shifts will get us enough money to live on our own?
"That look," Aaron pointed a finger at me. "That look in your eyes. You know something. Why did Kaleb take those extra shifts?"
"Um..."
"Dani." There was a threat in Aaron's tone of voice.
"Yes?" I mimicked his cautious tone.
"Why did Kaleb take the extra shifts?"
"Well, um," I struggled to think of an answer. "It's complicated."
