I walked down the gravel path, worn from the footsteps of the others. To another, I would be depressed; considering that I was keeping my head down as I walked. But I was not sad. Behind my tattered striped hoodie, I was smiling sadistically. The rain poured down on my head, and I welcomed the cold creatures to seep into the hood of my jacket. I keep my bangs in my eyes because it comforted me, and he said it was a good look for me. The trees whispered my name as I ventured farther into the forest. Soon, the trees started to thin and turn to a charcoal color. "Must've been a forest fire," I thought. It was fitting for the event that was going to take place. I soon began to see fresh tracks. "He's here," I said in a hushed voice to myself. I reached a clearing, and he was there. There in the rain was the man I had known for four years. He wore a tattered suit with a red tie. It was soaked in rain, and I knew it didn't bother him. He had told me. I stopped and looked at the pale man's face. He had a way of communicating with me through my head. "Are you prepared?" he asked. I replied with a nod. I could sense him laugh. He then took out a black knife, stained with blood. "This is the fun part," I thought as I closed my eyes.
SPLAT.
Pain enveloped my body like a snake's inescapable coil. I wanted to scream, but I kept my jaws clinched. I opened my blurry eyes...
and it was the same forest.
"Wh-what?" I moaned. "I though you were taking me to the fourth world." Then, two simple words were said that made me sick.
"I lied."
He laughed, along with other figures behind him. "No..." I said in a fading voice. He and his followers then proceeded to walk away, leaving me there for the forest to dispose of.
