After a little while of walking, Sniper finally reached the town. There were people, cars, and other dogs all around. Sniper started feeling a little anxious. He had to get out of there soon. He could smell the ocean nearby, so he could go there to clear his head a little. He trotted through the busy streets. A small Jack Russell Terrier barked and snarled furiously at him. Sniper was a little startled, but cantered away as it's owner shouted at him. As he passed by an alleyway, he caught the scent of food. He suddenly realized how hungry he was. He walked closer to the scent. It was coming from one of the garbage cans. Sniper almost gagged. He would never eat garbage, never. But, he was starving, and it was his only option. So, he reluctantly tipped over the can and ate some. It tasted awful, but he kept eating until his belly was somewhat full. When he was done, the door in the alleyway opened and someone gasped. 'What's a dog doing here?! And searching through the rubbish!' The person shouted. They threw a frying pan at him, narrowly missing Sniper's head. Sniper sprinted around the corner.
After some running, he had finally reached the sea. The sun was setting by now, and it made the sea glow orange. Sniper galloped down the stone ramp to the beach. He breathed in the sea air, remembering how he was at a beach when he was a puppy. He started running through the waves, wagging his tail. He couldn't remember the last time he didn't have to worry about anything.
As he was slowing down, Sniper heard hoofbeats behind him, and saw a huge grey horse galloping toward him. There was a girl on it's back. Sniper dove into the sand. He barked angrily, and the girl slowed her horse and turned around. 'Stupid dog! You could have spooked my horse!' She shouted at him. She threw her riding crop at him. It hit Sniper on the nose and he let out a yelp. He bared his teeth and barked. The horse spooked, kicking out it's hind legs. The girl managed to calm her horse. 'I'm calling mum about this to have you put down!' She screamed at him as he ran away. Sniper sprinted back down the beach, then back up the ramp, and back onto the sidewalk. He ran up the hill to the cliffs. He couldn't help worrying, though. Where would he stay? What would he eat? For now, he found an old fox den. The fox scent was there, but it was old. They obviously hadn't been there for awhile. Sniper laid down and closed his eyes. He was asleep in seconds. He hadn't slept properly for weeks. All he could hear was the crickets singing and the occasional wolves howling.
