Prologue

Chaos.

That was the only way to describe what occurred on the night of February 10, 2021.

The world was busy, some people were at frat parties, others reading a book to their children, and me? I was living the dream. 

My childhood friends, the renowned BTS, had invited me to Hawaii. The moment I saw the beautiful little island in the Pacific Sea, I instantly fell in love. The sea turtles in the ocean, the glorious coral reefs, and the crystal clear water. Saying it was a paradise would be an understatement. 

"Hey Y/N, aish! Earth to Y/N. Hello?" Taehyung flashed me one of his boxy smiles and playfully hit my head, snapping me out of my daydream. "So now that you're back from who knows where do you pick truth or dare?"

I was finally reminded that we were playing truth or dare; yeah, yeah, I know, truth or dare is basic. But that's what I was. Just your average, not famous nor special, Y/N. The Y/N who was from the little town of Busan and just happened to have been close friends with the most sought-out boy band in history. The same one who was the #1 martial art grandmaster in Korea. I was a tough cookie, hence why BTS decided that I would be the perfect fit to be their personal bodyguard. Again, I wasn't anything special.

"I pick... dare!" I half-shouted with excitement. 

BTS instantly huddled up to think of my punishment. Namjoon led the conversion, like he always would, while the maknae line was busy having a pillow fight. They could be idiots at times, but they were my idiots.

"Ok Y/N, we have a tough one for you. You have to spar against the Golden Maknae." Namjoon hesitated before continuing. " I mean, y-you don't have to do it if you don't want to, we don't want you getting hurt."

These boys were idiots. But I knew that already.

 I could easily beat all 7 of them at once, but, I decided to play along, for their sake, not mine. 

"Ah that's a tough one, but I'm not a coward. I'm up for it," I tried to sound conflicted, even scared. But I was neither. I just had to make sure their pride didn't get hurt. After all, I had a job to keep and more ramen noodles to buy.

"Are you sure noona? I'm pretty strong you know," Jungkook said teasingly.

Did I already mention that they were idiots yet? Well if you didn't know by now, they were idiots.

All thoughts about going easy on them left the chat. I was a considerate person, but I was competitive above all else. That was the reason I was the class president and valedictorian. There was no person on Earth that could mock me and get away with it. Not even the Jungkook I knew since childhood.

Here goes nothing.

I slowly stood up, trying to make myself smaller so that my target would underestimate me. That was the thing about men, they always underestimated women. Although, I didn't mind the small advantage in a world where being a woman came with more disadvantages than I could count. Could you believe that there's a country in the world where women still can't drive? Yeah, me neither.

While Jungkook looked around to the others with a smug face, I was already calculating how I would take him down. 

I'll make the first move. Punch at him weakly so that he doesn't see me as a threat. Then I'll make my move and then kick him where it hurts. Maybe that's too harsh, he's just a poor kid after all. Let's revise the plan. I'll punch him in the solar plex instead. Yeah, that'll knock the breath out of him. While he's recovering, I'll pounce at him and sweep his leg out from underneath him. Oh. I'll add a fake punch at the end just to mess with him. It's what he deserves for mocking me.

My perfect plan was ruined by what ensued next. I was just starting to execute my plan when I was interrupted. And oh boy, was it an interruption of a lifetime. So unexpected, that even I didn't know what to do.

"W-what are you?"

I couldn't manage to say more before I was knocked out cold. 

Everything around me went black, and it was me, not Jungkook, who had their life knocked out of them.
