I fumbled with the key of my apartment, inserting it into the lock, turning the doorknob gently, welcoming myself to my dusty apartment. With a snap of my fingers the dust was gone and the food was fresh in my cupboards. Tears welled in my eyes once again as I spotted my old houseplants, the tears fell onto my cheeks while I held the leaves of my dead plant. I tried with all my power to bring my plant back, but I knew it was long past dead. A knock on my door snapped my back into reality. I got up slowly and sauntered over to my front door, opening it looking into the shining eyes of my neighbor, Peter Parker. I smiled softly at him before grabbing his hand lightly, pulling him into my apartment. "So did your parents send you back to Queens?" He asked as he scribbled something down on his math homework. "Uh, yeah." I lied. I had told Peter my whenever I went back to space that my "parents" had to go on a business trip that could sometimes last more than four years.

He finished doing his homework before his aunt, May, let herself into my apartment, planting a kiss on my forehead. "Welcome back love." She said, sitting down on my pastel pink couch, I smiled softly, grabbing some macaroni from my cupboard and pouring it into the boiling water. Sometimes May and Peter would come over for dinner so I wasn't lonely. They were, by far, my favorite Mortals. I sat down on the couch beside May, scooping the pasta into my mouth while May and I made Peter watch Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone.

I waved goodbye to Peter and May before crumbling on my floor and dissolving in tears. My breathing went shallow again and I felt as if I couldn't get enough air into my lungs. I went o my room and laid down on my bed, trying desperately to fall asleep.

I looked over at my clock. Midnight. Well, if I wasn't going to sleep I might as well go visit my sister. I grabbed my jacket and fled to the roof. I was greeted by the light of the stars and the bright and beautiful moon, I smiled softly and sniffled. I waved up at the moon. The pigeons around me must've thought I was crazy. "Couldn't sleep?" Someone asked, I jumped, like, a foot off the ground and spun around on my heels to spot the person who had startled me. "Me neither." Peter said softly. He was sitting on the edge of the roof with his legs dangling over the sides. My breathing was shaky, but I knew with Peter, I was safe.
