I stared up at the sky, the autumn leaves falling down onto my tanned face. I breathed in the fresh air, sitting up and brushing the dusty leaves off of my shirt. Back then, my naive self, i lived somewhere deep in the forest, where i could just see the tip of the palace from. I'd always wondered what it was like, living in a big city like that. I'd never even seen the prince before, either, nor had I ever seen a girl. I lived alone, on the mountain side, but it was peaceful. So when I suddenly met eyes with a white haired man riding a horse as bright and brilliant as himself, i caught myself staring.

"..Hello." The man said. I couldn't say anything, my voice was caught in my throat. "Can... can I help you? Are you lost?" he looked about my age, 15 of some sorts. I stood up from the stream I was crouching over, the light through the trees filtering onto the water and reflecting it onto our faces. I laughed nervously. "Haah, I'm- im not lost, i live near here actually." directed my hand northwest of the river, the boy on the horse following my gaze.

"Oh.. i had heard there were people living in the forest, but i never actually expected them to be this-" he cut off, trailing away. "Nevermind that, i happen to be lost, actually," He scratched the fluffy hair on the back of his head. "You seem to know your way around. Could you help me get to Springvale? I'd just come back from Monstadt and supposed to deliver a package over to Springvale." My eyes reverting around, Springvale is west of Monstadt, pointing him in the direction, not saying a word. He smiled gratefully, bowing his head in respect. "I thank you. Now, i guess i best be going." Just as he was about to click his tongue as a sign for his horse to take off, I cut him off. "W-wait! Er.. uh... do you think maybe you can stop by here again? This is the first time I've seen another person before, I've never had a friend before. There was a girl my age who stopped by once, but never came back. So maybe..-"

"Sure." The beautiful male said. "I'm usually stuck up in the castle, unless I'm doing a commission. Maybe on my way back to Monstadt from one, I'll stop by." My face lit up. "R-really?! Thank you! I hope i can get to know you better!" I chuckled and bowed. "I'll be going now," I turned away, just hearing his voice.

"Can i ask your name?" he called. I turned to him. "Gon, Gon Freecss. You?" He smiled and looked down. "Killua Zoldyck." he then rode away without a word, leaving me there with my jaw dropped. Zoldyck?! The Killua Zoldyck?! He was the Prince of Monstadt, and me, a lowly peasant, met him today and maybe will become his friend?! I squealed to myself and picked up the Snapdragon I was collecting by the riverbank, skipped back to my house.

Every day after that, I sat by the riverbank, waiting for the prince to come and stop by. And every time I'd waited for him, he never came. I was starting to lose hope that i wouldn't have a prince as a friend, until one day, as I was playing in the water, he had come. In my amazement, we stared at each other for what seemed like forever. Then the cold hit me and I waded out of the water to grab the towel that was hanging off a tree branch.

"You haven't come and seen me in such a long time! I was almost starting to think you were dead," I joked. He laughed nervously and for some reason, looked to the ground as I pulled on my shirt and rolled down the cuffs on my pants. "Have you been busy?" He nodded as he hopped off his horse and pulled a blanket down from the back, draping it on the ground and sitting on it. We sat underneath a huge tree, watching the water of the river flow downstream and into the beach nearby. "I wonder..." Killua said, biting into a Sunsettia. "What's it like living in the forest, being free?" he glanced at me from the side. I shrugged dismissively. "I dunno. Fun? Happy? But it's also pretty lonely, since i live alone here." The wind blew around my damp hair, bringing the scent of ocean water to my nose. Killua made a "mm" sound and bit into the fruit, his eyebrows narrowing. "Maybe I could tell my parents I'm staying in Liyue for a while, so i could maybe experience what it's like living here in the forest." My eyes widened and I jumped up in joy. "Really?! Oh, yay! I've never done this before, slept over with a friend." I plopped down onto the blanket and rested my head on my hands behind my head.
