It's ever so convenient that one's body often seems to wake up when we want it to. A minute before the alarm, on a morning teasing to begin. Pieck glanced at the small digital clock on her bedside table. Imagine how much would be accomplished if it were that simple? Porco, in his sleep, had secured his forearm around her middle. She glanced out of the corner of her eye, to see him chewing his pillow. She wanted to get going while there was still morning dew on the lawns. She peeled his arm off as gently as possible but he stirred from his patch of blissful drool. "Oh hiya, Pock. I didn't mean to wake you." Porco looked up at her ineffable smile and jokingly replied.

"What are you talking about? I am still asleep." He wrapped his arm around her middle, returning to his sleeping pose. Pieck giggled as she was pressed into her pillow. She tried to get up but Porco was stronger. "C'mon just stay here a little longer." He pleaded.

The morning alarm sounded, shattering the playful tone. Pieck broke free to slam the snooze button. "I have to get ready for work." She caressed Porco's face gently. "Don't you have work at the airstrip today?"

He placed his hand over hers and replied casually. "Nah I have a day off, but I am taking Falco after school. He said he was interested in flying, so I offered to show him my plane."

"Well, that's nice of you. You have someone else to show off your baby too." Seeing a twitch irritation in Porco, Pieck sprung walked into the en suite and turned on the shower.

"He was the one who brought it up. I am not showing off." Porco explained. He thought back to when Falco asked him. Perhaps he was a little more excited than Falco was, but he always loved sharing his passion for aviation. What better plane to demonstrate this than his? Small, agile and faster than anything. His lock screen may have been Pieck and his friends. His home screen was his plane. Porco reached over to get his phone. He had one look at the date and realised the serious importance of his situation. It was Pieck's birthday tomorrow.

It had slipped through the cracks and he hadn't found her a present yet. He felt confident leaving it to the last minute, but here were so many things happening in the last couple weeks. He contemplated this as he smashed toast into his face hole. Please don't misunderstand and believe that Porco hadn't put any effort in. That would be unfair. Just not a lot of effort. He had seen gift ideas here and there, but none of them were right. Buying presents was especially difficult for Pieck because of how polite she was. She was too self-aware of her social sphere. A master at receiving terrible gifts with a faultless smile. As Porco downed the last of his coffee he vowed not to join the legion of 'meh' Christmas gifts. He would get her something special.

Pieck wafted passed the kitchen table in a plain button up shirt and long skirt. She collected the Porco's crumby plate and placed it next to the sink. "Do you want chilli tonight because we have a lot of mice left over?" Porco didn't respond, still lost in thought. She tapped him on the shoulder.

"Oh sure."

While the cogs in Porco's head clunked along, the CPU in Pieck's hummed. "What are you thinking about, Pock?" she leant over behind him, resting her head on his shoulder.

Porco didn't want her to know he hadn't found her a present. She would think he was some selfish jerk. He needed help. He tried throwing off suspicion. "My plane. I might need to get some new tyres." She looked at him dubiously. He avoided her gaze, not wanting to give away his thoughts from the faintest of facial expressions.

Pieck said slinking over to the door. "Zeke is planning on going to Liberio pretty soon. You could go with him and get whatever you need?" Porco's eyes lit up. Zeke had been working alongside Pieck for years. He must have a good idea that would make her smile.
