A call for help (part 1)

Take deep breaths.

I tell myself this over, and over gain. Maybe if I do it enough times, my brain will actually follow through on it.

Five minutes.

For five minutes Ive been staring at the phone, telling myself to take deep breaths.

I year.

I year is how long its taken me to get the courage to pull out  a phone and do nothing but stare at it.

More time continues to pass, yet I still haven't moved. I'm still staring at the phone and doing nothing.

Then...finally something happens.

I pick up the phone , and open up the contact I've  avoided for the past year, thinking to myself I am finally going to make the call.

But...my fingers hover less than two inches away from the call button. I'm so close to pressing it but still nothing happens.

I tell myself that if only I weren't so weak, I wouldn't have been staring at a phone for what is now 20 minutes while doing nothing, I wouldn't be needing to take deep breaths, and I wouldn't have avoided making a call for a whole year.

But I am.

I'm weak...but I don't want to be anymore. No, I refuse to be.

So I hit the call button.

"Hello?" My dad answers the phone, confusion laced in his voice.

"Dad..." I don't know what to say.

Hearing his voice after such a long time makes me tear up. In no time I find myself sobbing into the phone, tears running down my sallow cheeks and unto my scarred arms.

"Whats wrong? Where have you been?" There is hurt and worry in his voice, but most of all relief.

"I need help."
