It's been 3 months since Tanjiro has been in a coma. After a fight with a demon, he was knocked out cold with severe injuries. Doctors don't even know if he'll survive. I secretly send him gifts every week hoping he'd survive.
The next day
I wake up the next morning feeling depressed as usual. I check my phone to see a text from Zenistu.
'Zenitsu? He rarely texts me.'
The message Zenistu wrote was,
'Its about Tanjiro! He's awake!'
After reading that message I rush to the hospital. I was really happy but it didn't show.
Tanjiro P.O.V
The doctors has just given me food but at the moment Nezuko has to feed me. I was still in a really bad condition but the doctors are still unsure if I'll be able to stay alive. My whole body was in pain. I felt like I was going to pass out any moment.
A few seconds later I flinched to the sound of the door opening. I looked up at the door and saw Tomioka-san there. Before I could even say anything he ran up to me and hugged me.
"T-tomioka-san? What are you-"
"Tanjiro I missed you.."
After hearing that I start to tear up and hug him back.
"It's alright now..."
A few days later
My condition hasn't gotten any better for the last few days. It has gotten worse for some reason. The doctors has told me that I've been diagnosed with an unknown disease which has yet to be discovered. As I was lost in thought I suddenly start to choke and gasp for air. I couldn't breathe. It was painful. The doctor in the room quickly got other doctors. I couldn't remember anything afterwards since I passed out.
Giyuu P.O.V
I got a text from the hospital saying that Tanjiro might die some day during the week. They told me they failed to find a cure. I start panicking and rush to the hospital to visit Tanjiro. On my way to his room, I was stopped by a doctor.
"Sorry sir, but you're gonna have to wait."
I sigh and sit down at a nearby chair. I put my face in my hands and start to worry. Soon I heard a bunch of commotion in his room.
"HURRY DO SOMETHING"
"I CAN'T THERES NOTHING I CAN DO"
"HE'S DYING. QUICK PERFORM CPR"
"DAMN IT. WHY DOES HE HAVE TO DIE SO EARLY."
I quickly lift my head up and ask the doctor what was happening. The doctor tells me he doesn't know and tells me to calm down. A doctor then suddenly walks out and puts their hand on my shoulder.
"Sorry kid, we tried our best but he's dying in a short while. You may visit him."
I nod and rush into the room to see a dying Tanjiro.
"TANJIRO IM SORRY. I SAID I WAS GONNA PROTECT YOU I-"
He stopped me from saying anything else by putting his hand on my cheek.
"It's ok Tomioka-san. Don't go doubting yourself."
A tear then started to roll down his face.
"NO, PLEASE TANJIRO, I DONT WANNA LOSE ANOTHER ONE"
I start crying non-stop until Tanjiro says something.
"Tomioka-san... I love you"
He said his final words then stopped moving. His hear stopped beating and his cold, pale, lifeless body lay there.
I hold his hand and my vision starts to blur from tears.
"I-i love you too Tanjiro"
