Both her parents were rich and in love, but they moved too quickly. After only a few months of dating, they had Yumekin, and they moved in together. They shared everything in the household. Everything was split in half between the two, even if they have to pay just a little bit more than required to make it even. Over years of living together with a child, they had lots of fights and after Yumekin turned 4, they had officially moved on from each other. However, they both refused to leave the house since ever single thing in there is shared. Her father had another child, Kotone, with a different woman, but the mother disappeared after finding out that their father was still living with his ex wife. Her mother also had 2 other children, Taro and Hanako, with some other guy who also left after a while. The first kid, Taro, was born just a bit after Kotone, the father coming back for a bit to have Hanako before leaving again. When Yumekin was a bit older, her parents got back together and they all decided to act like a perfectly normal family lived inside these walls. Of course, no one verbally expressed that, but going around telling people that your other parent isn't your real parent or you're other siblings are only half related to you but you all live together is kind of an awkward conversation topic.
