As I took the monorail I listened to the announcements for the 17th time. "Good morning, and welcome to the [REDACTED] transit system. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of facility personnel. The time is 8:47 A.M. Current topside temperature is 93 degrees with an estimated high of 105. The compound is maintained at a pleasant 68 degrees at
all times. This train is inbound from level 3 dormitories to sector C test labs and control facilities. If your intended destination is a high security area beyond sector C, you will need to return to the central transit hub in area 9 and board a high security train. If you have not yet submitted your identity to the retinal clearance system, you must report to lab personnel for processing before you will be permitted into the high security branch of the transit system. Due to the high toxicity of material routinely handled in the compound, no smoking, eating, or drinking are permitted within the transit system. Please keep your limbs inside the train at all times. Do not attempt to open the doors until the train has come to a complete halt at the station platform. In the event of an emergency, passengers are to remain seated and await further instruction. If it is necessary to exit the train, disabled personnel should be evacuated first. Please, stay away from electrified rails and proceed to an emergency station until assistance arrives. Thank you for riding the [REDACTED] transit system"As I neared my stop, I could see my surroundings start to change. Large fortified bunker doors and automated turrets were becoming more and more frequent. That's encouraging. Finally I was able to exit the train and was presented with my badge listing my new position. On my way Athena's containment chamber I passed at least 15 security checkpoints. I could hear faint screaming somewhere too my left. How nice...
After a little bit more uncomfortable walking, I reached a giant metal door that looked like it ate nukes for breakfast. The Creme de la Creme of doors.
Just how dangerous is this "Athena?" I know we kept some pretty crazy stuff here but gosh darn! This had to be overkill right? I was knocked out of my thoughts when yellow lights started flashing and the vault slowly opened. I was told to enter so I crossed the bridge, to my first real job!
The inside was not what you would expect. There was a pristine white hallway, observation rooms and, what looked like a colorful bedroom. As I got closer, I could hear faint singing, though had no idea where it was coming from. I looked through the observation window and was met with the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes on.
At first she didn't notice me. Why was I the only one here? Something was weird about this. Suddenly however, she snapped her head to where I was standing. This was supposed to be one way glass! How the hell did she know I was watching?! And then something even creepier happened.
I heard a voice.
A girls voice.
But she never moved her lips.
She look directly at me and smiled.
"Hello Darling"
Thank you so much for your patience while I find the time to update! Please leave a star and comment letting me know if you liked it and want more. Whoever can guess what things the transit announcement and vault picture are from will revive a virtual cupcake and my undying respect.
See you soon, hopefully (¬‿¬)
