As a child, I remember being an outcast for the powers I was born with. I had a passion for adventure, but in the small village I lived in, it was rare that I got out as my powers of light had frightened many.
With my gifts, I went out every night and studied the sky. I formed stars in my hands. No days were cloudy days here for my gifts had always kept the town bright. In the forest at the edge of the town, I sat by the water, creating a vibrant glow.
"Sarnia? Sarnia why don't you get inside," my mother called from the small stone house we lived in. She was wearing a beautiful light pink gown on, although it was covered in dirt from when she was out gardening.
"Coming mother!" I called back, closing my hand and extinguishing the bright ball of energy I was holding.
I picked up my cream-colored lace dress and ran towards the house, my bare feet splashing against the mud.
"We are having guests over tonight, I think it will be best if you spend most of the night upstairs," she was starting to clean the dishes now.
I sighed and grabbed a biscuit before heading upstairs. My room was lit with familiar small stars as the red oak floor creaked underneath me. I slammed myself in my bed pulling the red and yellow quilted blanket over the top of me.
I passed out a couple of minutes later, only a few pages into the book I had just grabbed.
I awoke in a rush, a glowing ball of light was formed above me. Confused, I quickly clasped my hands over it, making it disappear.
My powers had not been as controllable lately.
I motioned my hands as if a puppeteer and opened the blinds revealing a dream-like sunset. Hurriedly, I swiftly got out of my bed and rushed to admire the sunset from the porch.
As I was just on the porch I noticed something in the distance, a glowing star. I hadn't made that, so intrigued I approached it. I positioned my hands trying to see if I could stop it, but just as I touched the source I was blown to the ground. My eyes slowly unblurred and a person was standing over top of me.
"Oh why hello there!" She said to me laughing and then grabbing my hand to help me up. "You're just like me," this girl had a small English accent to her.
I shook my head startled.
"Oh, allow me to introduce myself, I'm Freya." She was wearing a long white silk dress and her hair was a glowing strawberry blonde. Something about her made me trust her.
"I, I am, I'm Sarnia," I said.
"Yes, I know."
"Okay well, no offense Freya, but why are you here?"
"Because you are just like me and I need your help, my home it's- here I'll show you."
I turned my head as she took my hand once again and guided me towards the river. She knelt down and brushed her hand against the water making it glow.
As the water slowly got brighter, another ball of light formed. Freya looked over at me reassuringly and placed her hand on the light, I did the same. Something about Freya made me trust her, she was scared. Bracing myself, a rush of energy surged through me, and as I opened my eyes we were in a different world.
This world was golden and shined brighter than anything I had seen before. Majestic glass temples surrounded the glowing road we were standing on.
"This is Goldcross, the most powerful place in the universe." Freya pointed up towards a mountain in the distance, it was spewing out white bolts of energy. "Up in the mountain is where power is collected. That's where Jax is."
