Akaashi sat at the dining table staring blankly at his laptop's screen. His mind had begun to wander as he thought on how to fix the next set of essays his boss has assigned him to. Sighing softly as he gently closed the laptop and taking off his glasses. "I need a break.." Stretching as he stood until he heard the satisfying pop of his back. Checking the clock on the wall and seeing that it read '4:17' his eyes widened slightly in realization. "Shit I'm late.."
The noirette dashed to the front door hurriedly putting on his shoes making sure to grab his keys and coat. Exiting he locked the door and made his way down the stairs towards the garage. Reaching the garage level and lightly sprinting to his car and getting in. Checking his pockets for his phone he facepalmed noticing he didn't grab it. "It's fine...I need to get going anyway.." He said under his breath starting the car and pulling out of the garage.
The drive to MSBY's practice gym was horrible but the light traffic did delay Akaashi's arrival by another 20 minutes. Said male pulled into the parking lot the guilt eating at him worse as he saw Bokuto standing outside holding his team jacket looking at something on his phone. Sighing as he pulled the car next to the human owl, "Koutarou.." Akaashi called as he rolled the window down. The other male perked up hearing his name looking up from his phone.
"Keiji!" Bokuto replied excitedly as he hurriedly walked around the car to get into the passengers seat. "I'm so sorry for being late Kou I got caught up in work and I-" Akaashi's apology was cut off by the familiarly boisterous laugh of Bokuto who was shaking as if he'd heard the best joke ever. "You aren't late. Actually you're kinda early practice just let out...Did you not get my text saying we'd be getting out later today?" Sighing for what felt like the tenth time in 45 minutes Akaashi softly placed his forehead on the top of the steering wheel.
"I haven't checked my phone...and I left it at home." Bokuto smiled at the male across from him, "That's fine I know you've been busy with editing for that new issue that's coming out.." Akaashi sat up and nodded before asking," Are you hungry or..?" His question trailed off as he thought about something. Bokuto hummed, "Not really...but I could go for a snack.." It was Akaashi's turn to hum as he drove the car out of the practically empty lot and headed towards their favorite café.
Soon arriving at said destination Akaashi parked getting out, Bokuto following after. The two entered the establishment finding it mostly empty with a few other patrons in various locations. Walking to the front counter a young barista smiled at them," Ah my favorite duo! The usual!" They asked a bright smile on their face," Yes Nao thank you...and everything is fine.." Akaashi said as he spoke. Nao nodded, "Coming right up!! Your total as usual is 1,649.68¥($15.65).."
Bokuto took this as his que to swipe his credit card as Nao processed the order handing the couple their call number and receipt. Taking both items in one hand he used his other the hold Akaashi's and lead him to an empty booth as they waited for their food to be prepared. "How was working from home?" Bokuto asked as he lightly tapped on the table still holding Akaashi's hand. "It was very tiring...But I appreciate that I can consume my own coffee and not the awful brand the company purchases for the breakroom.."
"How was practice? Don't you have a game coming up?" Akaashi asked taking his turn to inquire about his lover's day. "It was great! Everyone is really improving and yeah we have a game next Friday at 2 pm...You'll be there right?!" Bokuto said excitement lacing his voice. Upon Akaashi's nod the dual haired male seemed to burst with happiness as he quietly cheered saying his signature phrase, "Hey hey hey! Yes!" Hearing the phrase Akaashi's eyes softened as a fond memory from their high school days came back to him.

The crowds cheers were muffled in Akaashi's head as he stared into nothing. The game had just ended, Bokuto scoring the last point. It took him a few seconds to process what had happened. To him the world stopped as he stared at his team's ace, 'W-we won...' he thought in his head. The normally neutral expression that decorated his face soon contorted into a bright smile as he cheered in time with his team letting the euphoric feeling overtake him. His blue eyes shined brightly as he watched his teammates surround Bokuto as the ace rejoiced.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! WE DID IT!!" Bokuto screamed happily as his gaze shifted softly towards Akaashi as he waved the younger male over into the large group that had formed around him.
"AKAASHI!"

"Keiji!! Hello~!" Akaashi snapped out of the memory seeing a hand being waved in his face. Refocusing his eyes as they made contact with light hazel orbs, "Hmm? Did you say something..?" He called out to his husband with his normal calm tone though he was still dazed. Bokuto only smiled," I was telling you that I got our order...Seem to have lost you temporarily.." The dual-haired male snickered with a half smirk on his, "Or was it that I'm just that handsome that you couldn't help but zone out~?" The teasing tone the other male gave caused Akaashi to dip his head in a vain attempt to hide his reddening face.
"Aw don't hide from me Keiji~" Bokuto whined gently moving Akaashi's crossed arms from his face and placing a quick kiss on the younger man's lips. This action did little to calm Akaashi's racing heart, in fact it made it worse, but an adoring smile replaced the muddled embarrassment that was previously there. "What were you thinking about so much that you did that though you don't let your mind wonder often.."
