I'm a new DC fan and I'm confused about something.

I'm a new DC fan, I would say I joined about the fandom about a week ago.  I am pretty knowledgeable about the universe, lore, and characters however there's something that's confusing me.

Batman is currently teaming up with Wonder Woman and Superman to stop The Darkest Knight in Dark Knights: Death Metal. However, DC is, at the same time, making a new Detective Comics installment, with Batman doing his normal crimefighting. No Darkest Knight or Robin King or anything. How is this a case? Is it matter of it being in a different time before/after the events of Death Metal?
