It rained down on Japan like no other.

Walking in the rain, Hinata noticed Kenma walking in the rain without an umbrella. He ran through the crowd.

"Hey Kenma!"

"Oh hi, Hinata-san."

"That won't do. You may address me as Shoyo. After all, we're friends now!"

Kenma looked up from his game, in shock at the boy's words. Hinata smiled. Kenma smiled a bit too.

"Yeah, I guess we are."

The two walked into the building.

"Thanks for what you did yesterday. I'll repay you when I can."

"Kenma, that was a gift! I don't need anything back!"

The two walked to their classroom and what they saw was horrific. Students crowded around behind Sugawara, who was standing in front of his desk. There was some very nasty graffiti on his desk.

OLD MAN, LIGHT BITCH, DIE

"Sugawara! How did this happen! Why—"

"SHUT UP!"

Sugawara shoved his new tag in Hinata's face.

"I'm only like this because of YOU!"

"C'mon! Why don't you put your tag on!"

"Fido! Fido! Fido! Fido!"

The class chanted the disrespectful name and Sugawara put his tag on and walked out of the room.

"What happened to him isn't your fault. It's just how things are here."

"What do you mean?"

"There's a threshold that everyone starts at. Some are higher and some are lower. That determines how we are. People who fall below that threshold are incompetents. House pets. If you're male, they call you Fido. If you're a girl, Mittens."

"Ow!"

The two looked over and saw two boys kicking down a house pet boy.

"Stay down house pet!" they said as they walked away. The hopeless boy picked up his tray and walked away.

"Believe it or not, it didn't used to be this bad. In fact, all started when the current student council president took office. Osamu Miyabami."

"This school divides into a middle school and a high school, but he transferred into the high school. He gambled with the previous president right off the bat and won. He took over Hyakkao Academy, and created the donation/house-pet system."
