Valentines Special

His soft ginger locks swayed in the wind, he gazed and admired the vibrant sunrise. It gave him comfort, especially on this day. He always felt so alone, no one understood him and there was always someone he was thinking about, but he knew in his heart that he could never have that someone. He sighed and placed his soft, gloved hands around his face, while his elbows were resting on the edge of the bridge.

"Nakahara Chuuya? Is that you?" a soft-toned voice of a girl came from behind him, and he turned around. "Ah, yes that's me," he gave a gentle grin towards the girl. "Oh, well I didn't expect to see you here" followed by a small giggle escaped her lips. "Me neither, Higuchi. It definitely was an unexpected surprise." Chuuya replied back. "Well I'll be going now, I was heading to the market to get Akutagawa some chocolates, but nice seeing you!" He nodded in response.

Chuuya frowned as soon as he turned back around. "Why does everyone else have someone to go to? Is it just me?" He picked his hat up off the edge of the bridge and placed it back onto his head. "Does he have someone too?" The thought was stuck echoing in his head, it refused to leave, it was stuck there like glue. All around him was couples, holding hands, sharing chocolates, hugging, kissing, going on dates, and he was alone, with no one, just himself.

He walked along the cracked sidewalk with his head down, when he felt someone's presence beside him. A hand, wrapped in bandages appeared below him, holding a rose, a singular, blood red rose. Chuuya's eyes immediately widened. "It couldn't be him, could it?" Chuuya looked up and turned his head to the side, to see who the man beside him was, already having an exact idea on who it was. "Happy Valentines Day, miss me?" The boy's brown hair was pushed gently by the light wind, his brown eyes liten up by the sun, highlighting the base and making them appear as gold.

His long sand-colored trench coat swayed and the corner of his lips were shaped into a genuine smile. Chuuya immediately looked back down, he was extremely flustered and his cheeks were most definitely a shade of red. He was shocked, surprised, he would have never expected this to happen. "Long time no see Chuuya, how've you been?" The boy's voice was low tone, but it was gentle. Chuuya, in shock, stayed quiet. "I expected as much from you, but can you at least take the rose? It was kinda expensive you know." his tone switched to a more sarcastic, jokingly manner.

Chuuya looked up at the boy. "Very funny, Dazai," and he reached his gloved hand to Dazai's, taking the rose. Dazai smiled and giggled softly. "Ah come on lighten up Chuuya, I haven't seen you for what, 3 years? The least you can do is pretend to be excited to see me, like what i'm doing!" Dazai said sarcastically. "What? So you're not happy to see me?" Chuuya's eyebrows furrowed. "I'm just joking you know, but from what I can see you've missed me"

Chuuya scoffed. "Awh, no need to get so embarrassed like that, it's cute." Dazai said, keeping the grin glued to his face. "Shut that loud mouth of yours, just leave me alone would you, you left once why don't you just go and do it again." Chuuya's voice projected anger, but there was just a bit of sadness hiding behind it. "If that's what you really want, then fine." Dazai stopped walking with Chuuya and turned his back.

Chuuya instantly regretted what he had said, he let the one he hoped for since the beginning to slip away, and it was even his own fault. He turned around to apologize only to see Dazai gone. "Come back- wait, I didn't really mean what I said, please come back, I miss those annoying jokes of yours, I miss your voice, I miss your smile, I miss you." Chuuya lifted the rose to his heart and held onto it tightly, turning back around to continue walking.

He sat down alone at a two person table outside of a cafe, staring at the empty seat across. He took his gloves off and set them to the side, and lifted the rose into his hands. Slowly, the pedals came off and the wind picked them up, making them dance in the air and flow in the direction with the wind. One by one, the blood red color painted the sky, adding a beautiful touch. "He loves me, he loves me not.." the words slipped quietly from his frowned lips.

It was down to the last few pedals, he didn't want to continue, with his luck it wouldn't turn out to be the one he had longed for most. "He loves me." was only a wish he could hope to come true. "He loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not," Chuuya stared at the last awaiting pedal left hanging on the rose. "He-" Chuuya's eyes grew bright, his frown turned into a relieved smile. "He loves me." He quickly set the rose down and put his gloves back onto his gentle hands.

Dazai watched him from a distance. "Don't tell me he's doing that stupid love me game with the rose- I wonder what it ended on." Dazai's gaze was settled on Chuuya. "At this point I seriously can't tell if he's smiling because he's glad I don't love him, or if he's smiling because I do love him." he added. Dazai didn't know it, but he was smiling. As he stared at Chuuya from a distance, he had a genuine smile on his face, and without realizing it. His cheeks were a shade of pink, it was hard to tell he was blushing, but it was most definitely there.

Chuuya watched the rose pedals dance in the sky, the sun highlighting the beautiful red color around the edges. Chuuya turned his attention to a small corner shop he had noticed earlier, it was a little ways behind him. As he turned over, he noticed a tan colored coat sway around the side, as if someone was walking away. His eyes widened. "Was it Dazai?" Immediately, Chuuya activated his ability, and used his gravity to bring him on top of the building he had seen the coat disappear behind. He stood on the roof and looked around, as the person couldn't have gotten far.

Suddenly, Chuuya felt a gentle touch fall upon his shoulder. He turned his head only to see Dazai standing beside him. "Looking for me?" Dazai smiled, but not in a way to embarrass him, he smiled because he knew Chuuya cared about him, he knew no matter how hard he tried, Chuuya would always need him, and always try to come back. Chuuya didn't say a word, he only turned his body to face Dazai, and wrapped his arms tightly around him.

His hat dropped onto the roof, and flew off the building into the wind, his soft hair blew gently. He kept his face buried against Dazai's neck and shoulder. "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking and-" Dazai kept the smile on his face and simply returned what Chuuya had given him, his arms wrapped tightly around Chuuya's waist and his chin rested carefully on Chuuya's head. "Don't apologize, I get it. I shouldn't have ever left you there alone, I should have been there for you. It's my fault, you didn't do a thing wrong, please don't be upset." Dazai sighed.

Chuuya bit his lower lip, and his eyes closed together tightly, tears streamed down his face, soaking a small portion of Dazai's coat. They had both fallen to their knees on the roof, Chuuya kept his face buried, he didn't want Dazai to see the pain he had been hiding since he left, he didn't want to show how much he truly needed and missed him, but he didn't need to show it, Dazai knew, he knew how much pain he had caused for him, and he regretted it, he regretted it so much that the second he felt Chuuya begin to cry, he couldn't help but let tears fall from his eyes, he felt absolutely terrible.

"Chuuya I-" Dazai began to say. "I love you." Chuuya replied, hoping with everything in him that Dazai was going to say the same. Dazai stared into Chuuya's eyes, blush was painted across Chuuya's face, and tears still fell from his glossy eyes. Dazai felt his heart ache, but it wasn't in a bad way. He waited to hear those words, the words directly from Chuuya's lips. "I- I love you too, Chuuya." Dazai said in return.
