An Empty Chair

As she casts aside her peers' cruel stare,

She sits beside an empty chair.

For who would want to sit beside a girl whose gaze wanders-

A girl who ponders,

And wonders how easy life would be if everything

Stopped.

She thinks about her peers,

Who believe everthing they hear.

Girls who need to care-

About more than their precious hair.

Boys who need to dream-

Other than beating the rival team.

If they stop and listen,

Then maybe they would see

Reality glisten.
